She'll get my vote time and time again. I've yet to see a character or show surpass the pair (Holo and Lawrence) in sarcasm, wit, humor, or incredible subtlety. I've seen the show many times over but still find myself torn, broken, enthralled, grinning musingly, and doubled over in laughter throughout. The animation is fantastic, the writing is uniquely endearing and coy, and the music is brilliant, ranging from upbeat folk to accentuate the plot, to heavy-handed string and piano compositions to truly instill a sense or urgency or fragility when necessary, namely during the series' iconic economic races or the duo's fights. Never before had I been so interested in simple conversation, in watching two witty participants toy with one another.

Holo is a series of entertaining paradoxes; provocative yet reserved, childish yet mature, composed yet incredulous, blunt yet elegant. Suffices to say, she is truly a dangerous beauty, and much more than your atypical tsundere trope. (Personally, I wouldn't even class her as such.)

10/10 across the board. So, yes, I'd say she's the best thing to happen to anime. And, to anyone who made it through my soapbox rambling: You should definitely give the series a try.
