There are a few shows that I need to watch dubbed. Soul Eater, DBZ, Pokemon, Digimon, Kenshin, Yu-Gi-Oh!, are some of them. Once I start watching a show one way I need to finish it that way. I prefer subs to dubs but I won't shoot my brains out if dubs are the only thing available. Some dubs are REALLY bad whether it is due to problems in translation or bad voice acting I've seen a few shows where it was embarrassing.

I prefer the dubs 100% of the time. It doesn't mean I'm any less of a fan of anime, I just don't think the voice actors are as bad as some people do, some are REALLY terrible but most are fine. And when you can't understand what they're saying what difference does their voice actor make? I sometimes do other things while watching anime so having to be paying close attention at all times is irritating. And when trying to read the text sometimes you miss visuals which is one of the main reasons I watch anime, because I want to appreciate the art, I can't do that if I spend all my time staring at the bottom of the screen.

I prefer dubs also, mostly because of the fact that I want to watch a show, not read. But come on, the dubs for DBZ and TTGL are ******* awesome!(Beyblade Metal Fusion should go **** itself and die in a whole, the acting makes me want to vomit, same with Kaiba in the original Yu-Gi-Oh, it was easy to miss as a kid, but now, its just...blegh)

Reasons why I prefer dubs:

a) I like to draw and do other **** while I watch them and don’t like reading the entire time, especially when there are other things happening onscreen besides a conversation that I would otherwise probably miss if I were looking at the bottom section of the screen the entire time. ”BUT Y U NO JUST LEARN JAPANESE”; I’m not going to learn a new ******* language just so I can interpret the dialogue of some goddamn show.

b) It ******* annoys me to listen to the Japanese voice actors go “NGYEH” and make every other discernable grunting noise on every other sentence in a dramatic moment. And, not to sound racist or anything like that, every male actor sounds like every other actor, and same for actresses. English actors just seem to have more variety in voice tones to me and makes characters more identifiable. inb4 "<insert anime here> is a good show that has lots of voice variety, you're probably watching all of the wrong ones".

c) To me, there are no “bad” dubs. Plus, FUNimation does a great ******* job with theirs and leaves nearly all of their work in its uncensored glory. Hell, I thought One Piece sounded alright when I watched 4Kids’s dub of it as a kid, and that seems to be an example that most people use for bad dubs. Yes, they replaced and censored several things for a different audience, but as long as it doesn’t drastically alter the actual storyline, who the **** cares? I understand that a lot of them get pretty ridiculous, but I've seen anime fans freak out over minor alterations. Why do you have to be so anal about every detail?

d) I don't even watch that much anime so most of the elements aren't that big a deal to me. The story isn't going to be ruined for me because of some sub-par acting. If the storyline and art are good, I'll most likely enjoy it.

TL;DR

JUST LET ME ENJOY MY ****** ENGLISH DUBS, YOU ******* NAZIS

Meh, it just depends on who's dubbing it. I love the dubbed version of ************ , but when I watch Naruto, I can't ******* stand the English voice actors they use. And when I watch Lucky Star, I can go either way, because both versions match the characters pretty well.

I usually just read the manga though, because anime leaves me a little lost and it's easier to reread than to rewind imo

I can't do subs either, the japanese have really high voices, most of them men sound like boys.

Ouran High School Host Club actually has a really good English dub, the voices are very fitting for each character, considered one of the best English dub animes too.

Kaoru and Hikaru's voice actors are more fitting in the English version than the Japanese version, I think. The rest are fitting too, but the Japanese version just doesn't match their characters well, in my opinion.

Love that anime, makes me laugh every time

ill put up with any dub for a series because its just too much to have to read 50 episodes. I might as well just read the comics. the movies are a different story

obviously didnt read my full comment. i would read a little text if it were a movie or a comic but constantly for a cartoon is just annoying

I watch dubbed too mostly because characters like to talk while there's actiony stuff goin on and I don't want to have to look at words intstead of blood shed.
