Imagine if every now and then they blew up the rocks which just looked part of the background and left the rocks that were standing out intact just to **** with everyone. That is the kind of world I want to live in.

It is actually because of the style of animation that was used at that present date. The background would be pre-rendered, and all animations would be layered on top of it. Due to restrictions in technology, the animated layers couldn't have the same amount of detail as the pre-rendered background.

They do that because they are using animation on paper and then videoing it with a camera. Usually the art style is different from the object being moved and the back ground cause theyre are either different artists or because It is easier to simply animate a single color than a random water color object. Yes. I study animation.
