idk how to feel about DA3. My expectations were so high for DA2 and now since ive played it my expectations arent too high for the third.
but i am so excited omg DA3
User avatar #296 to #247 - caocao (08/31/2013) [-]
I'm stoked for this game too. Race choice is back, new characters, I'm happy as a clam.
The devs also seem excited.

DA3 will use the Frostbite 3 engine. **** Yea!

That's post isn't about "We don't like Dragon Age", it's about "/i'm afraid new Dragon Age will be gау simulator".
User avatar #228 to #227 - dracory (06/28/2013) [-]
as if i mean they didnt show much and you could flatly refuse any advances so its not like the game forced you to be gay
User avatar #229 to #228 - existacne (06/28/2013) [-]
I'd still prefer the possibily to choose main hero's sexual orientation in the beggining of the game, the same moment when you choose his class.
User avatar #231 to #229 - dracory (06/28/2013) [-]
i think that removes some of the life from the game i mean what would be the point of romantic options if they only turned out the way you wanted them to i mean try keeping every party member happy and not have infighting it's funny as ****
User avatar #235 to #231 - fizzor (06/28/2013) [-]
It also removes some of the life from the game if you get ridiculous penalties for not butt-playing with your male teammate like in DA2. They should really give being on the "neutral ground" as an option. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a good thing that Bioware is defending the gay community. But their way of defending, like shown in DA2, went a wee tad too far, imo. Nobody likes it when something's forced on to you, and if you don't accept that, you get **** from it.
User avatar #236 to #235 - dracory (06/28/2013) [-]
really i shot down anders right from the begining, i mean what do i care if he liked me
User avatar #242 to #236 - fizzor (06/28/2013) [-]
Well yeah, naturally that's what you do if you don't want that, but I think it's downright stupid that if you refuse Anders (or any male character that makes advances towards you) at any point, you get rivalry points. Are you ******* kidding me? Oh yeah, right, it's a clear "I love you too" or "Go **** yourself" situation. You choose the former, you get friendly approval and generally move your relationship in the direction that will end up with your character in bed with male teammate, but if you choose the latter, it's like the game says "Well **** you too" and rewards you with rivalry points. I was pissed to realize that there's no neutral option that rewards you with neither, but lets you keep your relationship on the current status.
User avatar #243 to #242 - dracory (06/28/2013) [-]
in my master playthrought when i did the perfect playthrough i only got rivalry points with his twice both only -5 his gift easily fixed that and i accepted his questlines without needed a bromance moment
User avatar #239 to #236 - existacne (06/28/2013) [-]
I wonder if any of "gay romance" option are canon.
User avatar #241 to #239 - dracory (06/28/2013) [-]
not that i can find
User avatar #233 to #231 - existacne (06/28/2013) [-]
Hmm, in that case I'd prefer more dialog options like "you were great in that last battle, male friend (+1 friendship)" and "you were great in that last battle, male friend (+1 gау romance)".
User avatar #234 to #233 - dracory (06/28/2013) [-]
they do that with the the dialog symbols and it makes you pay attention to the charater cause if you made a bad choice it's cause you didnt know they wouldnt like that option
User avatar #237 to #234 - existacne (06/28/2013) [-]
I don't think Mass effect dialog system was better that swkotor.
In Swkotor(and later in first dragon age) you had some dialog options to choose from, while in second dragon age and mass effect it's "good fella/joker guy/wanna be bad ass"-option and sometimes "i'd like to hear more information"-option.
User avatar #238 to #237 - dracory (06/28/2013) [-]
true the dialog options are limited i would like more

So wait is like everyone in that game gay? I mean only a handful of people in mass effect 3 were same sex options and people were acting like bioware forced them to talk to the gay or bisexual people and when they finally did ask the question they were like "Well **** now I HAVE to date this ****** ."

Also, it will somehow include the Warden and the Champion.
User avatar #150 to #141 - warrenzthehero (06/28/2013) [-]
There was an article in an issue of Game Informer a while back. I don't know of anything other info, but here's what I gathered from the article:
Bioware is making a sequel to Dragon Ages 1 & 2. It will be called Dragon Age 3: Inquisition.
#155 to #150 - schneidend ONLINE (06/28/2013) [-]
I knew all of that already, you magnificent, ruseman bastard.
User avatar #158 to #155 - warrenzthehero (06/28/2013) [-]
Oh! One more thing.
If I inferred correctly, they'll be having multiple locations again in a style like in DA1.
I think. Not certain.
User avatar #161 to #158 - schneidend ONLINE (06/28/2013) [-]
I actually liked focusing on Kirkwall in DA2.
User avatar #170 to #161 - warrenzthehero (06/28/2013) [-]
I preferred DA1's style.
It made the events of the game and indeed made your choices seem to have a more global impact, just by being bigger.
Granted, DA2 was never meant to be global (until the very end), but it made it feel a bit more like you were doing something in DA1.
Maybe it's just me.
User avatar #172 to #170 - schneidend ONLINE (06/28/2013) [-]
I find having a big affect on a smaller area is more gritty, and more like how I would go about being an adventurer. Though, if you think about it, Ferelden is still only one country, just like Kirkwall. It's just bigger because Fereldans are basically German-Celtic hillbillies.
User avatar #174 to #172 - warrenzthehero (06/28/2013) [-]
That would be true about the grittiness if the didn't make all the art and lighting and characters and everything in DA2 less gritty.
I mean come on, compared to how dark most of DA:0 is, 2 is Hello Kitty Island Adventure.
#181 to #174 - anonymous (06/28/2013) [-]
HOLY **** YOU ARE SUCH A ******* ****** LOL

User avatar #179 to #174 - schneidend ONLINE (06/28/2013) [-]
I'd agree on art and lighting, but characters and story? No way, man. Bertrand post-artifact was doing stuff more messed up than anything in DA1, and that's just one NPC. Also, that one guy in Sebastian's quest who wanted to cover one of his servants in molten gold? **** is cray-cray.
User avatar #183 to #179 - warrenzthehero (06/28/2013) [-]
I wouldn't call a gold-covered servant gritty.
As for Bartrand, he got a littel crazy. I'll concede to you that. But (at least in my opinion), the gravity of that situation was undercut by the use of bloodstains and strewn corpses so carelessly and commonly in other dungeons and quests.
User avatar #184 to #183 - schneidend ONLINE (06/28/2013) [-]
I would call boiling somebody alive by pouring molten gold over them pretty damn dark.
User avatar #185 to #184 - warrenzthehero (06/28/2013) [-]
You talk as if servants are actual people.
#186 to #185 - schneidend ONLINE (06/28/2013) [-]
User avatar #156 to #155 - warrenzthehero (06/28/2013) [-]
In my defense, that's really all the two-page article said of import.
User avatar #160 to #156 - schneidend ONLINE (06/28/2013) [-]
Hm, that's lame. I was hoping we knew enough for there to actually be some controversy, as this content suggested.

...I kind of want my Hawke and Warden-Commander to fight each other. They're both ruthless succeed-at-all-costs dudes with two-handed weapons and the Reaver specialization. They'd be totally evenly matched.
User avatar #166 to #160 - warrenzthehero (06/28/2013) [-]
I read online some more and found more details.
Plot: The story will be set in somewhere more "French", according to the devs, meaning Orlais. A major part of the story is the Mages vs Templars, the former having gone rogue and the latter having left the Chantry to fight the mages. There's also going to be some political stuff, as "countries will against each other" or something.
Creative Director Mike Laidlaw said that the player will be essentially "saving the world from itself", though the player is also tasked with leading the Inquisition to seek out and defeat the "Agents of Chaos".
Dragon Age writer David Gaider said that the Warden's story is over, and Hawke's story would be finished via DLC (big surprise from Bioware: they fell through with that DLC promise)

In terms of gameplay, the world is set to be three times as large as Ferelden, and Bioware is "Checking out aggressively" more open-world RPGs like Skyrim.
The devs have also promised that there would be no more reused environments, but will be keeping the dialogue wheel.

There's also going to be more customization.
They gave an example involving a breastplate being given to a party member, and the breastplate changes to fit their shape.
Armor is also set to be customizable like with the design and pattern.
The character will be fully voiced.

That's about all I know.
User avatar #169 to #166 - schneidend ONLINE (06/28/2013) [-]
That all sounds pretty sweet. I've wanted to see Orlais for a while now.
User avatar #171 to #169 - warrenzthehero (06/28/2013) [-]
I kind of want to DA again now. It's been a while.
And frankly, there's little more powerful than a well-built elemental mage in DA1.
User avatar #173 to #171 - schneidend ONLINE (06/28/2013) [-]
I ain't about that Mage life, dawg. I go for Warrior-types all day, erryday.
User avatar #176 to #173 - warrenzthehero (06/28/2013) [-]

Arcane ************* warriors. AAAWWWW YYEEEAaAHH. Every hit misses, spells dont cost much mana even with four different modes (2 for Arcane warrior; 1 each from creation and arcane) on, and upgrade magic and strength to deal ******** of damage. **** was so cash!

User avatar #291 to #193 - warrenzthehero (06/30/2013) [-]
Oh **** yeah.
The worst part about being an Arcane Warrior was the lengthy silence when talking to that elf-warrior in the phylactery when you're set to get the quest to actually get the specialization.

DA2 wasn't bad.
Until you compare it to DA1.
And admit it: that's a pretty unfair comparison.

DA1: Amazing story and annoying as **** combat system.

DA2: ****** story and amazing combat system.

True, but when I'm attacking an enemy, I want to at least feel like I'm hurting them. Bastards didn't even flinch half the time.
