Honestly, I do watch anime and I really try to enjoy some of them. I love certain series and really wish anime would stop this kind of laughing while fighting because so strong and all this "plot" ******** . It ruins stuff that could have become pretty decent shows.

she doesnt even have a lot of fighting screentime..most of it is focused on the actual plot. theres also this great apocalypse now reference.

Maybe. I just watched the scene you posted and it does look interesting. I just hope that girl is not the focus point of the anime though. "Crazy" characters tend to piss me off because they are usually less "crazy" and more just excessively over the top.

the plot without spoiling too much is this:

Magical gate pops up in downtown japan, leads to magical other dimension, japan army goes in, is met with war from magical empire, basically wrecks the entire other dimensions army cuz theyre using swords and arrows vs guns and tanks. political issues ensue.

This is Modern Japanese Millitary vs Medieval England Army..you seriously dont think a regular .45 ACP could penetrate standard steel plating from 2ft?

Take your regular "knight in shining armor" chest plate, its thickest at the corners and the vulnerable spots like in the middle, but overall its actually quite thin (normally 1.5mm) as to not squish the knight under the immense weight.

Also Cowboy Bebop and Gurren Lagann are my personal top two, they're probably just not what you're looking for.

If you hate anime I wouldn't recommend this show. Starts off pretty good but then falls later into politics. If you want to like anime you'd probably fare well with Fate/Zero, Ghost in the Shell, and Psycho-Pass. Made for a more adult audience with little wrong with them story wise.

No. A squadron of helicopters comes in and finishes the job. Like I said it's the end if the scene and just finishing up. Goth girl entering the fight was the beginning of the end, not the main focus. All in all, a well done scene even if over the top but that was the point. Medieval warfare can't compare to modern warfare

I can't think of anything too similar. Premise wise, its modern technology (Japan) based in medieval/ roman type civilization with typical fantasy settings such as dragons, elves etc. Then there is the cliche anime/manga races like catgirls and stuff. It can get dark at times because there is war, slavery and gore. Modern Japan is very dominant in the series compared to the civilizations they're fighting.

This is a Seinen.

Its about war. There is slavery and gore in it, etc.. The manga is really good. Not sure about the anime though because I usually wait until it's done airing and marathon the series.

The target audience is male 18-30.

There's far more than a to this series than just loli with an axe. Plus the loli chops people in half and **** , it can be rather graphic.

That's just the point; it's about a brutal war, why the hell is there a generic smugalicious "magical girl" wrecking **** ? If they wanted fanservice, just make it a warrior woman or something, there's no good reason for it to be a child wielding an axe bigger than herself.

I don't really read or watch anime, so maybe it's something I just don't get. It doesn't all have to be grimdark murder and whatnot, but there's a genre and a setting for stuff like that...
