the boks were best, but if you are going to watch the show, at least watch brotherhood because it follows closer to the original storyline.

Both FMA and Brotherhood were very good on their own ways. In Brotherhood there was more action and better homunculi than FMA but FMA made me feel so strong emotions that I think it`s the most emotionally moving series I have ever watched. Most likely because I placed me and my brother in Elric brothers shoes. God damnit, I`m getting emotional even when I`m writing and thinking this...

Would you recommend still watching Brotherhood after Fullmetal? I started the regular series and I didn't want to stop in the middle - nobody warned me until it was too late

Drop the old version and watch brotherhood. Botherhood has the "real" ending (from the manga), which is so much more awesome.
Do it. It will be worth it.

I watched both and enjoyed them both as much as each other.
And in dub, too.

I've not read the manga because I like things for the visual; the story may be great but the art is poor. Same with Yugioh, Soul Eater and Hetalia. I only read YGO and Hetalia manga/comic strips because there's a lot of story that isn't in the anime, or the fanservice is filtered out.

Yes, it's probably a terrible reason not to read a manga, but I don't much care, I still enjoy FMA anime.

I'll be honest, I feel that both shows had their own good points. I personally liked the speed at which FMA developed at, as it gave me enough time to have certain things sink in, and give us more time with certain characters, such as Nina. It also did an excellent job of giving important moments just the right feeling.
Brotherhood's animation was a bit superior, and it was very action filled, which is something I can appreciate, and the storyline was quite interesting as well, and I like how it did follow the manga.
I guess what I am trying to say is that I feel that both were excellent shows, and in my opinion equal overall.

And if you disagree with my view, then perhaps the glorious muscles of Alex Louis Armstrong can convince you.
