I can't think of anything more insulting than to dress yourself in cultural stereotypes and pretend to speak their language. You don't see Japanese people in America dress like Elvis, suck down Budweiser and call everyone Cowboy.

meh, I don't care for anyone who's overly eccentric about anything, be it anime, or sports, or whatever (might explain why I can't stand tumblr). I just find those types of people extremely annoying.

Then again, maybe it's because i really can't get excited about anything myself, so I secretly hate them all out of jealousy, who knows.

Jerseys don't get **** because they are, if you will, the social norm of dress. Openly expressing enjoyment of such asocial (or antisocial, I dunno what word is right here) ideas... Perhaps idiosyncratic would better describe my such enjoyment of anime (and prog metal).

Well, some of it do it for attention, or they genuinely enjoy it. I could care less if they mind their own business with it, pushing it onto others is what pisses people off. Also, if it's a bit too much, I'll just silently go, "******* serious?" I'd never try to make them feel any less though.

It's one thing to be a fan, even a dedicated fan.

It's another to pretend you are a member of a different culture because you like one of the things they do.

I have no problem with Otakus. One of my best friends is one, and while I occasionally give him **** for wearing fan T-shirts, he doesn't overdo it. Hell, in many ways I am one. I've been to Otaku conventions, they're fun as hell, and I really don't like people who take themselves too seriously.

But Weeaboos bring the negative traits of Otakus to their extremes. Just like among sportsfans, it's okay to walk around with a jersey and to be a fan and talk to other fans if they ask. But when you're walking around with a bunch of excessive sports ****, making yourself look like a fool, constantly talking about sports when nobody asked...we have a problem.

Well when you've lived a mostly sheltered life it's hard to be normal especially when the only friends you make are just like you causing it to worsen so they stay your friends, it's a double sided coin.

I disagree, I think people who live in sheltered lives have no excuse to act out of the norms of society, I have plenty of friends who where sheltered into a private atmosphere until they got jobs when they turned 16, at first they had to get used to some cultures that where new to them, but in reality they quite easily adapted to others, and easily made friends.

I would say if you had a traumatic youth than sure, you might end up that way, and that would be the part of me that agreed with justaperson, I don't know their background, they might have trauma and that cant be helped, but if they are just acting that way for attention simply because they are attention mongrels then to hell with them.

I think you really should know more about psycology to start talking about sheltered upbringing like you are a professional about it. It is quite a psicologic problem that affects one's life for sure, and if the question is "does it affect your social relationships?" or "does it makes you act out of the norms of society?" (as you say) I think that's not even a question, since it is quite obious it does. A sheltered person it's quite different and you should respect that, just as they should respect your own space. What? You know some weeabo who doesn't do that and brags about their anime to you? That's not an excuse for thinking they are just "attention mongrels" or to hate them.

Not to mention the quite large difference between people who brag about anime, and people who enjoy shows like anime to a normal level. There is far more support for someone who would wear a T-shirt with their favorite football team on, I could explain the reasons of why this is to you but it would be easier just to tell you not to compare the two,

Football on television is not the same as anime on television, wearing tons of shirts based on the two invoke different emotions regarding each

The reasons someone would wear their favorite team on a T, are not the same as the reasons someone would wear an anime T.

I have a classmate at college that does this.
Most of us do watch anime, and will have a conversation about a specific show from time to time, but jesus christ, be afraid, BE VERY AFRAID, to ever say anything japanese-related when you're close to her. It's like her alter ego takes over and goes full weeaboo and won't ******* stop talking about how Japan is great or how (and why) it's the best country.
She'll most of the time use the "generic anime words" you usually hear (thanks, you're welcome, I'm sorry, etc), end her sentences with desu or nya and start with "ne~ xxxx-chan" [rages internally] .

Sadly yes.

Don't be afraid to reach out to other anime fans, most of us are rather calm about our fandom. Just know the difference between general fans, Otakus of varying degrees, and weeaboos. I've made some good fans in anime clubs, at conventions and at school who shared a mutual fandom, so I know it can be done. And personally, I speak some Japanese and a fair number of fans do, but I don't usually bring that up in person or outside of places where it's relevant. That's usually a sign that separates an otaku from a weeaboo.

I have a group of friends where they all watch anime and play Pokemon and whenever we are all together I try to steer the conversation away from that stuff and it never works, I have to sit there for hours and hear them talk about cartoons. I can rarely enter the conversation because I stopped enjoying or watching anime and manga right around the time I got out of elementary school.

Sort of long post ahead, read at your own risk, i warned you

while i wouldn't have gone as far as you, i definitely hated them, not because they liked what they did, but it seemed like they were trying too ******* hard to spread what they liked through huge ass signs.
>girl in my class with pink hair, acted like a bitch to others cause she was "such a victim", ok you're ugly and people treated you bad before but i have not done **** to you and let you do your thing so there's no reason to act like i cunt when i simply asked you a question or even looked at you.
>another girl in same class, fox tail, xXkha0sd3athXx, also "i love furries" written on their. Always loud as ****, making strange noises, moving as if in an anime which looks retarded. whole class gets annoyed.
>Same two girls always drawing gay pony hentai or naked gay males and what have you together, thinking no one can see, even though im right behind and can clearly see.
It isn't because they like what they like, but because they are trying too hard and it annoys everyone with what they do. Just because something is ok in an Anime does not make it ok in real life.
although my dudebro friends, jock friends, and some douche friends whom i talked to cause they actually give good advice at times, would try and give them hell, but i would stop them if i could cause i know they don't need help ******* up their lives any more then it already is. if they are happy being **** ups, let them be, but sometimes wouldn't mind having my friends make them tone down a little.

you mean you took satisfaction in other people bullying them because you're too much of a faggot to actually do it yourself.

Given your username, I take it you're one of those over enthralled anime fans? If somebody gives him hell, why should he be **** on for doing the same. Inb4; THAT'S DIFFERENT HE'S JUST MEAN!

Being different and being a wierd asshole are two different things. I pushed these people around as well and it was not just for there own good but the good of the community. When i was younger i got really into metal i started wearing trip pants, wore a spiked collar, and dyed my hair back. And to this day I'm glad some people came up to me and informed me i was dressing like a fag. People like him are needed to keep a norm. Poeple can't just be allowed to do whatever the hell they want. There social boundaries and rules we abide by.

so you are pretty much saying we cant express who we are. who cares if you wore trip pants and a spike collar thats who you were but people who didnt like it pushed you into believing that its gay to dress that way. if i let people push me around i would have a dull life. i have friends who express themselves and thats why i like them is because they are not afraid to be who they are and neither should you. would you bully your own child for them expressing themselves? Why is it so bad for people to express themselfs nowadays? were in a new generation where its fine for people to be who they are, so what if they are gay or straight, or you like to wear clothes that suite your likings who are we to judge on how people are sure have your opinions but dont put others down for being who they are. its people like you and kottonmouthed that make people who express themselves wanna hide away because its not to your liking.

Oh you can be who you are, thats fine. I still wear metal shirts and leave my hair long and if someone wants to like anime (despite my extreme hatred for it) I won't begrudge them. Just don't take it to far. If you gay i have no problem with that, if you are flamboyant about it, i have no problem with that. If you start walking around in public everday everywhere with assless chaps, a pink thong, a feather boa, and a handle bar mustache then thats when its ok to give that as much hell as possible

common decancy and a respect for social standards and boundaries. These standards have been formed for a reason. They are why people aren't walking around nude. When these boundaries by individuals who refuse to get with the progran are pushed that is when it is our job as a community to either encourage them to return within the boundaries or push them out. If you like anime fine, if you wear some shirts supporting it then fine. If you show up dressed like this guy everyday then be prepared to be "encouraged" to return to within those boundaries.

well we dont walk around nude because most places its illegal and mostly no one wants to see genitalia everywhere. but still this isnt the old ages were everyone had to follow the same thing. what makes us who we are is how we dress and act so if you take that away we are no different than anyone else and i would absolutely hate to be the same as other people. Society needs to reliaze its never going to be the same ever again because people are gaining the courage to express themselves. so what if they dress like the person in the picture its not that bad it could probably be x100 worse than this
