Actually, Anubis was depicted as a jackal or other canine, not a cat. Beerus is based more on Seth and Sekhmet, as well as his old Cornish cat that miraculously survived an illness, the doctor joking that it "was some kind of demon"
my nana was an egyptologist. i swear if she wasn't a christian, she'd believe in the ancient egyptian gods existing.
i was sleeping over at her place every other weekend.
I agree with you, and I will take red thumbs with you. I get the joke, but it's neither clever nor interesting - especially because it's about a fictional character. Even as a fan of DBZ I don't find it humorous.
Yeah, he's an alien god from another dimension. So why is it funny that his naps are 39 years? He lives way longer, right? I may be that guy who is "fun at parties", but I don't even think this joke warrants a "party". It's a nice, small, silly tidbit in the DBZ lore/universe, and it's telling of the character, but it's still not funny. Maybe grin-worthy?
It's basically referential humor. Remember when bronies would say "20% cooler!" as if it were an actual funny, interesting thing to say? This is that level of "comedy".
Perhaps the most important social event until that time occurred on Terra. On 20 August 3028, six months after her eighteenth birthday, Hanse Davion married Melissa Steiner. The leader of every Successor State was there, including their aides, heirs, and other VIPs. At the wedding reception, Hanse Davion uttered one of the most quoted lines in Inner Sphere history, "My dear... I give you the Capellan Confederation." To the leaders of the Inner Sphere, it seemed like this touched off the 4th War, but, in fact, troops had already invaded the day before.
You probably need more context to find this hilarious, but imagine if Mao Zedong, Patton, and Marilyn Monroe were in the same room, Patton proposes to Marilyn Monroe and tells her "Your wedding gift will be all of China"
