If we get androids, we won't think of them as sentient creatures. And they will turn on us.
Genetically mixing humans with cats will give you either a human with catlike traits. Therefore will demand equality amongst their peers. Meaning we just add a new sentient race.
Or we get cats in humanlike bodies and they **** everywhere and piss on the stove if you don't let them outside.
Which is okay if you have a piss and scat fetish, but annoying in the long term.
So your best option is simply having a normal neighbor catperson that you have to attempt to seduce.

Thats not what the Geth did.
The Quarians were the instigator in the war, one platform asked if it had a soul (translates to Am I Alive) the Quarians flipped out and ordered them all destroyed.
So the self preservation runtimes of the Geth kicked in, and they defended themselves. They didn't go on a mass homicidal rampage, the Quarians did.
This is because the primary directive for the Geth is to SERVE the Quarians, not PROTECT them.
If you are going to use this as an example of AI going haywire and killing off it's creators don't, because that's not what happened, they defended themselves and fought for their right to exist.
