Omg can confirm: his dark half of face is from a darkie. From the original manga, was controversial 'cos it was a different race's skin, in the TV Anime, black kid was only kid who was willing to donate skin grafts (all the other kids' moms didn't want to scar their children's skin for a boy who was about to die).
