Because originally shirou was female and saber was male, but when they decided to finnally release it, the original studio decided that the target audience would like it better were the gender roles reveresed. There isnt really any explanation of it besides that in the shows history, King arthur was real, and he was actually a she who posed as a man.
Because somebody at TYPE-MOON asked the question, "What if you could summon historical and mythological figures as slaves and the **** them?" Then asked, "Who is the most famous figure in mythology?" And decided on King Arthur. Then, they asked the question "How do I get people to want to **** King Arthur?" This was their answer.
Actually what happens is the dress is part of Medea's lore, where she creates a dressed laced with poisons and acid to kill a princess. In the anime, it's a dress that drains mana or some sort where is weakens it's wearer. Medea is trying to control Saber and uses the dress to weaken her resistance.
I actually forgot about what was going on since imo UBW is the ********* route but I think this scene happened b/c Caster (the hooded person) sorta mind controls saber by stabbing her with a magic dagger and is forcing her to marry her or something like that.
Actual Fate Spoilers. Saber is King Arthur. In the Fate universe, she hid her identity because the people wouldn't have accepted a female to be the King as per the Caliburn legend that whoever pulls out the sword yadda yadda would be King. There were other circumstances but that's the basics of it. I agree that it's ******** and that it makes no sense at all, I actually thought she was the Lady of the Lake until it was spelled out that she was Artoria Pendragon.
As for the Sabers in that gif: Saber Lily is just young Artoria before Caliburn broke, Saber Alter is Arthur if she went down the wrong path, Saber Zero is just regular Saber in a suit, Saber Lion is Furry Saber, Saber Extra is another person entirely, the Emperor Nero but a chick because reasons, Saber Bride is Extra in a different outfit, Sakura Saber is Souji Okita and was supposed to be a joke but people liked her, she is yet another Genderbent Saber. I'm not sure why Mysterious Heroine X is there, she's clearly not Saber.
It makes more sense when you consider that Merlin made all the **** happen, what doesnt make sense though is him getting her to produce sperm and the Morgana le Fay stealing it and impregnating herself
He doesnt, although he should
I mean, the dude is supposed to conquer the world
Archer from fate stay night is my favorite character of all time though, so atleast thats got it going for it
**** . Then no Iskandar too, I presume? ****
Well, a new game and anime are slated to come out soon so fingers are crossed that either of them at least make a cameo appearance.
He doesnt do all that much twisting of desires, he just kinda calls people mongrels and beats them up
He also does the most ****** up thing ive ever seen in any anime
So enjoy that
Fate/ Hollow Ataraxia got a PSVita port in late 2014. Judging by its relative success against the 2005 PC version, they might soon (or already are) going to adapt it into an anime.
oh **** you havent seen UBW? I myself am a fanboy when it comes to type moon, and my brother loved fate/zero. Took me a while, but i eventually got him to watch the new UBW anime and now he thinks it is better than F/zero
The reason for all those lookalikes is that whenever Takeuchi gets told by Nasu to design a new character, he just drew another ******* Saber. Also, Saber Lily is actually a version of Saber where she revealed she was female.
Normally I'd agree with you... and I only know one of the characters from the top, and two from the bottom. But one of those fights would be between the literal god of Babylonian Heroes, who has the power to summon and telekinitecally throw **** tonnes of swords at once along with possessing the most powerful sword to have ever existed.... and a King Arthur who, while accompanied by his most trusted fighters, was defeated and forced to retreat by a viscious bunny rabbit.
Dunno... Actual spoilers: Yeah, he had a compelling character, but by the way he was beaten by both saber and archer, and relatively by caster, I started thinking he's all talk. I understand keeping heart and ambitious no matter how many times or hard you fail, but at least you'd expect him to be more humble.
I pretty much only meant character-wise myself, yes.
But, to set things straight: He lost to Saber because he did not want to take her on seriously and also let her off since it seemed like she had other pressing matters to attend to (Irisviel's kidnapping).
Archer was overpowered. Very. He'd pretty much win all of the 1v1 fights if he wanted to.
Caster is kind of complicated but it was more of a time fight. Only Saber could best Caster's monster. Caster was prolly the second-weakest out of all the servants. He had a lot of time and a lot of resources (the serial killer's mana on top of his own along with the fact he act 'fed' himself on the dead peeps' despair) for that giant monster thing. In actual fight, Caster would most prolly lose to everyone except for Lancer.
That's fairly standard animu ******** , though. The big, muscular guy ALWAYS loses to the scrawny ************ . Always. Especially if the scrawny ************** a woman.
Except that wouldn't work because Archer is future Shirou, and the reason why he agreed to be a legendary hero is because he'd be able to go back in time to kill his past self to fix any problems he caused. Basically, what Saber wished to do about her past though on a more conventional level.
No, the reason he agreed to be a hero was still to fit with his ideal of a hero of justice. It was only after spending a long time (if that concept can even apply to a heroic spirit) as a pawn of the counter force just killing people that he realised everything he's ever done in his life was for nothing, and then that plan came to be.
unless Shirou enter Sakura route. In Sakura route, Shirou chose one friend life over thousand stranger life, even if that friend was the one who kill/eat them
Rin didnt summon Archer because her clock was wrong, she summoned him because the gem she used for mana was a thing he had treasures his entire life
And double unlimited blade works wouldnt work, they would just overwrite each other and clash
I don't think it works that way. While they are the same person, yes, Archer is much older than Shiro. His body and mindset are much different. Moving a limb from one to the other would be no different than moving a limb to anyone else, really.
There are two versions, the version by Deen, which is mediocre at best, and the version by Ufotable, which more closely follows the visual novel it's based on an is therefore godly.
Anime only way 1 - Fate/Zero -> Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works (2014, not the movie) -> Heaven's Feel (not aired yet)
Anime only way 2 - Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works (2014) -> Heaven's Feel (not aired yet) -> Fate/Zero
Intented order (if you want to read the VN's) - Fate/Stay Night (it was animated by the way, but let's act like it never happened) -> Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works -> Heaven's Feel -> Fate/hollow ataraxia (poorly translated to english, so careful) or/and Fate/Zero
defo didn't copypaste from my old comment about this
It's a mediocre anime based on a game. If you've ever seen Shaman King, it's kind of like that. 14-17 year old kids with magic power summon a historical person to fight for them in a tournament to the death for the Holy Grail that will grant any wish.
