It's a non-spoken thing among loli manga artists, that they always have to have some made up ******** excuse for making kid-alike characters kids in suggestive situations. Because depicting actual pedophilia is not considered okay even in WTF-Land that Japan is.
Most of them just use the lazy excuse "It's my art style" and that's nothing new, but "She is sick so she didn't grow up" is a one I haven't heard of before.
Then we get the reverse ones as well. A good example would be Raphtalia from Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari (albeit this is a novel without pictures, not a manga, originally). One of the characters has an age of 7 years old but is physically and mentally a 17 year old adult. There's plot reasons for this, it's really touching as well, I honestly cried at the one scene relating to this.
So its all an excuse? Nothing is "i didnt picture the character as a grown woman with huge breasts"?
Because she also doesnt have the face of a loli which are supposed to be round and child-like.
Breast size is a important for all things in the entertainment industry.
I assume its related to when trying to cut work by using steriotypes like tsundere, the airhead or whatever the breast kinda goes without saying. Like "the gentle mother figure" = very calm with huge breasts/"the tsundere" = angry, arrogant, flat with a complex over it/"The pervert" = b-cups at max always wanting other's breasts
But who said the easy route is the good one...And since you asked,i dont think its weird. I think its logical for someone to consider breast size to maximize the character's possible likeability with a certain audience. Its mostly fanservice at this point but thats also why theres always a beach episode
Not that. I mean that majority of flat characters have to at least once brag about their lack of tits. Usually it happens at least once per minute, rather than once per season, too. What's the deal with that? Even in video games, like Castlevania, one character's entire quest is revolving around getting huge tits.
I don't think it's as much about getting the character right, but rather just a shameless fanservice and there's not much room for overthinking. Some patterns you listed make perfect sense, though, and I agree on them, but they often seem more like like tools for creating the "plot" that attracts viewers.
Bragging for lack of tits? Thats just them fooling themselves with the complex for lack of tits. To be honest its a pretty normal thing for women to want bigger breasts because either men like big boobs or because they would feel superior to other women like men do with penises except no one ever does the complex thing out loud because thats just mocking himself.
Maybe I'm forgetting something, but I seem to remember him destroying everyone in the show except for his sister. Any problems he had were usually due to the fact that he wasn't allowed to break any of the swords until the very end.
Just finished this anime.
It's good. I understood ******* of it a lot of the time, but that is because I tend to do other things whilst watching **** on TV/Computer. This is one of those series where you have to pay attention to what they're saying.
Loved the non-cliché ending and non-cliché plotline overall.
Refreshing, to put it in one word. We need more of these animes.
Sadly, the tits 'n ass animes are easier to make and easier to sell these days.
Here's my two cents and unwarranted review of this anime.
I realize now, that you were being sarcastic. I have no real defense with the exception that I should have been a sleep a long time ago, but I'm pretty sure everyone has that excuse.
Naw man.
I can take my eyes off Gurrenn Lagann (or however it's spelled) for a couple of seconds and still be able to follow afterwards. Something with ludicrously stupid and ridiculous plots like GL are easy to follow.
(Not bashing on GL, I loved that series myself)
With Katanagatari, they mess with chronological order and little details in speech so much, you HAVE to put your undivided attention to watching it in order to enjoy and understand it.
I guess that's kinda true. I personally don't really understand watching anything like that. I might leave a youtube video running on the other monitor but that's about as far as I'll go. I don't want to miss out on any minor references or fast cuts or anything.
Hah, if I really like a series enough, then I'll just rewatch the entire thing to try and get the references.
I personally don't have a lot of time, but being the stubborn prick I am, I still want to finish all my animes on my "backlog" if you will. So I end up doing work and watching anime at the same time which results in me missing out on details a lot.
>announcing attack names ******* no, this puts me in an incoherent rage. And it broke up the otherwise great choreography. The art style was also cool, but the whole "japan's culture makes fighting a opposition of ideals, and the true victor of a fight is the one with the true ideals" ******** always ruins anime for me, is there never a bad guy who is completely narcissistic who just wants to kill the protagonist and doesnt chat up a storm? I want an anime where the fighting is done by the protagonist as an act of desperation because communication no longer works, and where the villain is just a bad guy who wants to kill people with some evil goal in mind. And when they do fight there is nothing but the sound of rustling cloth, the clashing of steel, and the utter hatred the two fighters have for one another, no words, only a dance of death. Talking is for when you arent in a room with someone you intend to kill at that moment. Sword of the Stranger was great at this imo, same with Samurai Champaloo. I hear Musashi is good as well, i am just getting tired of samurai now, i have never been interested in Bushido or anything else from ancient eastern Asia really.
