you're gonna create a themed acc spamming desu~ desu~...
I alwayss considered you more like geko's and cheerios.... an acc dedicated to giving the comment section, the best of fj, something to see that would always beeappealing. Not spamming *********** .... idk why i just said that
I guess it is heaily themed... but not *********** ... it's been a while since you've spammed newest with actual boob picks.... i guess what im saying is since i actually liked what you did im biased towards you. pretty hyprocritical of me because im agaisnt these themed acc.... idk mn.. just ... idk
It's what 4Kids did to the series. Apparently American kids would freak out if they saw people eating onigiri (rice balls) so they made the characters call them jelly doughnuts.
Yeah I remember seeing this and thinking it would awesome, idk maybe they didn't wanna ditch ash. No clue, they went through the trouble to make that much of a trailer for nothing.
You know what I like about Japanese?
When they think manga is too male centered, they go and make their own, instead of demanding that manga authors cater more to them.
And they don't go and make it half-arsed Revolution 60 with graphics of four generations ago and storytelling based on bad tropes from tvtropes.
No they go and make Fullmetal Alchemist, Ranma 1/2 (which made its creator richest woman in Japan), Sailor Moon, D.Gray man, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Lament of the Lamb etc etc etc.
When Rumiko Takahashi was asked if she faced sexism she replied "At first some men told me women can't do manga. Then I started outselling them 5 to 1, and they stopped."
Now THAT I respect. Standing around demanding someone else puts an effort in to create things YOU want... **** that.
Yeah, but what I hate about Japan is the whole "inward perfection" style lack of regard for western markets. It's lead to Japan losing a huge amount of power in vidya, and anime's failed to fully capitalise on the fairly sizable foreign interest in amimé.
That's because they don't CARE about western market.
What you are doing is basically same thing feminists are "Why aren't they catering more to what I and people like me want?"
Because you are not the target audience. Because their sales and development model is distinct and don't want to change just to cater to western markets. So if you like it how it is, good, if you don't don't buy it, or make your own. They don't care.
I'm not sure you understand. I'm annoyed that they don't care about the western market. That was the whole point of my comment.
I'm upset because it makes no God-damn sense and is primarily based out of over-cautiousness and a bit of xenophobia thrown in.
What I'm doing has ******** to do with some ideology, nor to do with what "I" want. You're also for some reason assuming I'm asking them to change anything. I'm not even asking them anything. It's just dumb not to take advantage of the huge market in the west- or just outside Japan in general. Don't jump to conclusions, faggot.
Hey dickhead, how about you learn how Japanese markets work before you start ************ and calling people faggots you ignorant asshole?
In western countries the network that produces the show owns the show, not the studio. To Japanese, the idea of selling and not owning their product is horrifying.
In Japan studio pitches the show to investors, who then finance it for share of the dvd and merch sales. That's it, they don't get to own **** .
Second, Japanese studios have complete creative control. There is NO western model, except for self financing, where studio has complete creative control.
Third, even most profitable japanese properties in the west bring chump change compared to native market. Sailor Moon which was a worldwide phenomemon, made 80% of its profits for the makers in Japan.
And that's the last part, because of the difference in how the profits work for studios. Studios make NO money putting shows on tv. Tv run is advertisement for DVD, merch and other sales that actually make money.
So, Japanese studios would have to give up control, creative freedom and ultimately financial success, to cater more to a market that is not prime market.
It would be idiotic. As it is, Japan is prime market and rest of the world is secondary. Mostly by selling rights outright and not giving a **** .
>Whole first part of your rant
Yeah, I knew that. I'm not sure why you thought I didn't...
I'm not ******* asking for the west to be a primary market. I'm asking for it to be a secondary market, which it often isn't. 20% is still a huge chunk of money. And Nintendo's profits are 40% western, and they've only just begun to give two ***** about us. It's just ******* stupid. There are many reasons why so many of these companies are failing, and this kind of thinking is one of them...
Yeah, because they have their own way of financing, their own way of doing things and their own way of creative process.
They don't want to work like westerners do, because they like it the way they have it now.
And honestly, only americans think allmighty dollar is worth giving up your freedom and control over your properties.
What the **** does this have to do with anything? You don't have to "give up muh freedoms" to sell in another market. And have you not heard that the west != the US?
They ARE selling to the other markets NOW.
That's why you are able to read manga and watch anime in the first place.
But they are only selling what western buyers are willing to buy under their rules.
Why would they change something that works really well for them, just to get more money, and possibly lose interest in their primary, far more lucrative market?
Listen to me, I'll try to make it down to a level you'll understand.
Japanese make show. Show good. Want to sell west.
Western buyer goes "I own show!". Japanese go "No, my show."
Western buyer goes "Change this!" Japanese go "No, I like this."
Western buyer goes "I don't want." Japanese go "Fine."
They only sell properties that sell under THEIR rules. And once property is sold, its american distributor who's job is to market it.
No japanese company is failing because of a refusal to sell to the western market, just like no american company has failed for refusing to sell to the asian market. I'm pretty sure that 40% figure is completely bogus, since, considering that there are some places where Pokemon and Zelda products literally line the streets there, Nintendo probably gets a **** load more profits out of their asian customers than they do from the entire western world combined. Same with Sony, Viz, and just about every Japan based company except vehicle producers.
The west isn't a secondary market because, well, think about it. 60% of the west was practically non-existent until 400 years ago, not enough people lived there to justify the shipping costs of almost any product until 200 years ago, and there was hardly anything that budding nations like America, Mexico, Brazil, etc. could need so much as to justify commissioning it until 50 years ago. Japan had no real reason to try marketing to the west until just recently, when they started making demands for things and throwing money at them, and even then they wont change a product any more than an english translation just to make it marketable over here.
"anime and manga lovers *.*"
Oh yes, Japan is the greatest place on earth, you should move there. Don't mind the xenophobia against western weeaboos like you I'm not refering to you op, you're cool
Just to throw a wrench into every feminist ideology ever Arakawa Hiromu, the mangaka of FMA, drew the armstrong family based on her opinions of how men and women should look. Men should be tall and built like ******* body builders whereas women should be busty and slim. Also literally everyone is ripped because she grew up in rural japan and thinks you should look after your body and not be a fat **** and bitch about things. Finally the series shows how you really need to ******* strive to achieve something because nothing is free and the universe will try to dick you at every opportunity and only by working with people can you achieve anything.
I don't know why people are head over heals for this show, i mean i tried to take a bite out of the show but i just couldn't get my mind onto the show, it seemed like it was heading in the right direction its just, like i said people just lose their heads over the show, ill probably head back into this show later, i just didn't have the right mindset for it when i was watching it, I really need to get my head in the game, you know. if anyone can give me a heads up or tell me where the show is really heading i might watch it, if I'm not hungry that is, whenever I need to eat something i lose my mind, and don't notice anything around me, you could just sneak up at me from behind and i wouldn't notice. a monster eats her head
I felt the same way as you when I started it and still kinda feel like that now after ive seen the whole thing. The show was good, but i could have done without a lot of it. As someone who feels the same way, watch it for the last four episodes. it goes by pretty quick so thats not hard to get to. The last four episodes are pretty good though and worth it
**karvarausku used "*roll picture*"** **karvarausku rolled image** I like fairy tail, but I ******* hate Lucy... She can go rot with that "No don't hurt me and my friends, can't we just all be friends?"
Bitch you are trying to fight some serious dark magic user who has killed gazillion ppl. and then you try to puppy eye with your honk hon your way out of the situation...
Japan isn't as into manga and anime as a westerner might think.
A lot of that art stuff also is either from a talented artist (you can find those in America) or from an otaku with nothing better to do.
If you're going to go to Japan, don't go for their weird anime subculture (it's a subculture there, too), go for the chance to eat new food and do new things, and to experience a different culture.
I hear Hokkaido has some pretty nice hot springs. And there's this bread they call melon bread that's essentially supposedly like a cookie-cake.
Okinawa has so much history, too, all those temples and tourist attractions, plus that beach.
Plus, they have some kind of weird noodle dish that they have a hundred different varieties of, all of which seem tastier than the last, except the bitter melon kind.
Maybe not as much, but still a lot. I agree on not going there just for that (or at all, unless you have a good reason), but it is a much stronger subculture than you imply.
It's advertised everywhere because otherwise they would be seriously in the red every time a new one came out. But it's still seen as rather shameful to be beyond 12 and still watching it. Little kids and preteens watch it. And occasionally 40 year old men undergoing a second childhood. But a lot of the stuff foreigners see, was meant FOR a foreign and much older audience.
It's kind of like how we advertise new TV shows, mix tapes and rising pop culture icons everywhere, because the louder you let your voice be heard the bigger the audience becomes.
Personally, I'd go there and South korea to experience a modern culture that developed differently for my own.
All these fedora-neckbeards glorifying Japan like it's Utopia.
There are some special things other countries don't have but then again... Other countries have things that Japan doesn't have... like muslims, you won't find them in Japan oh god it really is Utopia i must migrate there now I finally get why people glorify it it's to lead us people to a safe place without letting muslims know.
