Welcome to the “Insert Songs” Comp! These are 15 of some of the most memorable songs (with lyrics) used in anime. I’ve put in plenty of insert songs previously in other comps, so these songs are just a few of the ones I haven’t been able to include before. I know I said this would be in the 19th comp, not 18th, but slight change of plans.

I plan on going until the 20th comp for anime soundtracks so if you have any last minute suggestions feel free to leave them in the comments (no guarantees, however). I’m looking for a couple of notable instrumental soundtracks from anime at the moment (most any of the Studio Ghibli soundtracks would be great examples).

It goes without saying that I own none of these songs (If I really wanted to make a profit I’d use Youtube or some website that’s relevant).

No, guys, really, you need to watch Maria the Virgin Witch.

It's fantastic, probably the most accurate medieval setting you'll find in an anime.

Aside from the magic, all of the combat is realistic and well planned out.

Hell, one of the characters even uses a murder stroke to win a duel, it's awesome.

Go watch it. It's great. Please. Please watch it. I'm begging you.

It may have just been me, but I was surprised at how real/intense it got. It felt mostly lighthearted and fun early on, even some of the more important plot points in the setup were like that. But it really quickly got downright evil.

But yes, the combat was a great change of pace in terms of accuracy.

The Virgin Witch anime had a character that was basically her familiar. She was half male and half female because the witch didn't bother to change her gender entirely.

You should give it another try, the whole point of that character is that Maria needed an incubus but she just didn't know what male parts looked like so he doesn't have them, it's a little joke.

It gets very heavy very fast, so you should follow through it.

Downright the most realistic representation of what actual medieval combat was like. Also a pretty good show imo. It has a lot of nice historical and biblical callbacks which are nice for a change.

This one is only a manga for now, but you should also read Vinland Saga. It's a realistic (and pretty brutal) viking age story.

The most realistic weapons / armor / fighting, in an ANIME?? Skallagrim, a guy who makes videos of historical martial arts, weapons, and also does weapon reviews, made a video on it. Really impressive.

Lol it seems we've watched the same video.

Besides the historical accuracy, I can vouch for how good this anime is.

There is a good amount of philosophical back-and-forths between two ideals of "peace:" One who believes in a world where no one gets hurt and one who believes in a world where people get hurt but eventually move on (war is inevitable for progress, sorta thing).

There is an interesting mix of history and religion as well, something that hasn't been done in anime.

The humor is mostly sex jokes but it actually makes sense in this context because our main character is, indeed, a virgin.

Not to mention the character designs are 10000X times better from the original manga, which just shows how much effort was put into this show. It really emulates the original manga by a long shot, imo.

5cm per second. A very slow-paced but beautifully bittersweet romance story.

I personally don't like the character designs, but they were just staying faithful to the original source. Look forward to the background art, though; it's on a whole different level.

Isn't High School of the Dead the anime with the girl dodging a sniper and her boobs sort of.. flopping out of the way? I don't like excessive fan service, so I was disappointed when one of the first shots was a panty zoom.

I wanted to like it, but I couldn't give it a serious try if that's what I'd be watching. I know how to find porn, I don't need it in my anime

Haven't gotten to that part yet. But so far my opinion is; If you take away the boobs, it's still good, just without boobs. It's a great zombie survival show with nice horror moments, and badass zombie killing. Looks like it got everything I want in a zombie survival show, + boobs.

Like I said, it's a bonus or a humor element The blonde nurse's boobs make ******* "boing" sounds sometimes. Keks were had. .

Boobs or no boobs, it's a pretty good zombie survival show. Like you said, the fan-service is a bonus. Even if someone doesn't like that kind of thing, you can't fault the show for it, since it doesn't try to hide what it's about.

Yeah, it's honestly a really enjoyable zombie anime. But people always get caught up with the EXCESSIVE fan-service.

It's the same with No Game No Life. Loads of fan-service but god damn is it an enjoyable show.

I haven't watched Ergo Proxy so I would have to listen through the soundtrack to find some gems. I have previously gotten a suggestion to put the Ergo Proxy OP in one of my comps, but I'm holding off on OP/ED for just a lil bit more.
