Whether intentional or not, Migi and Shinichi gradually develop aspects of each other and almost begin to switch personalities, Migi gains a lot of human like characteristics like showing respect towards others while Shinichi becomes more cynical and emotionless.

When Shinichi didn’t have sex with Murano, Migi was very disappointed considering his interest in human reproduction, he even asked Shinichi if he could give himself an erection.. for science.

Migi is an intelligent parasite who don’t need no host, he really likes reading books and learned Japanese in a day which caused Shinichi to say his right hand is more intelligent than his brain.

All episodes of the anime are references to literary works, the first episode is titled Metamorphosis which links to how Shinichi realised he had transformed into a partial parasite after waking up, similar to how Gregor from the Metamorphosis woke up to find he was an insect.

Uda’s parasite, "Jaw" is given the name "Jaws" in the Tokyopop publication as a reference to the film.

The nameless parasite and minor antagonist that confronted Shinichi was named Mr B afterwards on the official Parasyte anime website.

Goto’s name is a pun as the “Go” in his name means 5 in Japanese implying he can control 5 parasites, similarly Miki, a parasite in his body can only control 3, his name is Japanese for “3 trees”.

Migi from “Parasyte” was originally supposed to be in Shinichi’s neck but the editors said it would be too weird, as if it wasn't weird enough already.
