Kyubey is not his name, but rather his species. "Kyubey" is an alien race who have hive-mind. They all share the same thoughts, and memories by telekinetic link. Occasionally, a Kyubey is born with a mental defect: emotion. Kyubey who feel emotion are excluded from the hive-mind so as they do not infect the whole with their "illness". The Kyubey as a species call themselves "Incubators", and make it their mission to collect energy from every possible source: and then use that energy to fuel the expansion of the universe, so the universe itself does not implode unto itself.
