X is a variable that can stand for any finite number, I.E X = 10

If X is used more than once in an equation, it must remain the same across the equation. Because of this, the equation X - 7 = 19 + X is simply incorrect.

Basically, when you moved some things around, you'd get X = X (+,-) 24. It's just impossible to solve that.

Indeed. The only way to solve it wouldve been if x-7 was read as 7-x. x would in that case be -6. 7--6=19+-6 double negative rule making it 7+6=19-6
