Is the joke here that America turns everyone into the same person, a uniform society?

If so, you're so far off, I can't even tell you.

in most cases, it's not even Americans eliciting Americanization. It's just technology and media. People share, and with sharing, cultures are melded/lost. It's not like there is some nefarious American do-badder who laughs maniacally at the world conforming to American culture. It's just the innocent spread of information, technology, and ideas.

America is popular; not to say that it's popular in a POSITIVE light, but it's at least a popular topic. The American culture is popular, and many people from other countries adopt some of it. Again, no one is plotting or scheming all of this. And who is to say that it's a bad thing? Americans aren't a cancer - in fact Americans are a mesh of ALL different cultures (somewhat) working together and functioning as a society.

America is no where NEAR perfect, and does a lot worse of a job at many things than other countries. However, it's not some evil force driving Americanization. It's mostly popular demand. I say MOSTLY, because other factors are businesses "invading" other countries and such.
