They all look like humanoid "Thomas the Tank Engine" characters.

Or Jay-Jay the Jet-Plane, since those characters had flesh-colored faces. Which kind of freaked me out as a kid. Figured the trains in TtTE were like robots but in JJtJP I was bewildered by wondering what it was like where machinery meets flesh like that.
