Here' s the long and short of it
email permit the acquisition, retention, and dissemination of covered communications
Hoovered communication being defined as.
means any nonpublic telephone or electronic communication acquired without the consent ofa person who is a partido the communication, including communications in
electronic storage.
Meaning all your phone calls, emails, chat logs and even documents in cloud storage are free rain with no warrants, overwrite or accountability. And all this info can be shared freely between all
federal and local government agencies including local police. This is the worst law that has ever been passed by congress in our entire history. There is almost no chance mama will veto it, our
only hope is the courts save us and deem this unconstitutional but they have been happy to **** us over recently. The whole cavity in this law is it does not authorize the collection, NSA already does that it only authorizes the sharing ofthe
data, the fourth amendment meant mention sharing once obtained. We are ****** .
Mend marfare trying to get a Twitter OP started. The MSM is ******* silent and old fool! is sall in ruins (awesome liming}. According to news argyle link above is filtered there even.
We have one chance, and only a few days to stop this. Repe are trying to get a revote called to block it, but TH N EED MORE VOTES.
Call Congressman. Tell them to block this sneaky **** ! lemongrass goes on Christmas vaction before they can at least hold itfor revote WE ARE ****** .

It's more that SOPA, this extends beyond the internet. This strips away due process, a guaranteed constitutional right, and is a direct attack on the constitution. I have never been as sad for the state of America than I am today.

But won't it get slapped down because it bypasses the warrant laws ?
User avatar #19 to #17 - usarmyexplain (12/15/2014) [-]
It should have been, it never should have made it past the rough draft, but it has already passed both branches of congress and will take years for the courts to decide after the first charges are brought. Lives will be destroyed before it is over.

i dont really see why they even need this SOPA stuff. its just more of whats already done

i thought the patriot act already allowed them free reign to trample all of our rights, written or implied. like secret-jail time without reason and all that.
done by decree basically.

it likely wont stop even if that spy **** was made illegal for them to do cuz its all done in secret, not that they'd ever limit themselves with laws
.

It’s not just a new version of SOPA, it has nothing to do with online piracy.

The patriot act allows intelligence agencies to monitor communications that originate or terminate outside the US, it also allows the military to trample on the rights of US citizens fighting for foreign organizations against the US.

Government surveillance activity is actually regulated and monitored by the judicial system and congressional oversight committees.

Wouldn't be surprised in ten years time that the whole internet becomes monitored and starts being censored per country.

I showed this to a few of my buddies, and my one specific edgy-bro thinks Americans could go to a full on ground war with the government and win over an issue like this
What an idiot.

weapons are mostly short term solution.

it usually takes lawyers to get in some real long term solutions with government

Yeah, I don't think it won't matter for such a long time. If Canadian government sign some kind of trade agreement based on this, welp we are all **** . Canadian or not.

Don't be an idiot, this is nothing like SOPA. SOPA was to stop Piracy, not to spy on us every second of every minute of every hour of our days.
#33 to #32 - thebigbadjefe [OP](12/15/2014) [-]
The way I see it, SOPA would have been a sort of "gateway drug" into more heinous acts of spying, like NSA-level records.

On the other hand, I am often very misinformed and speak without evidence. Feel free to reply back.

Mate, I live in upstate NY, do you really think any political figure here cares about anyone outside NYC?
Spoiler, NYC is the only place in this state that politicians actually care about

Alright so I'm pretty stupid so is basically the government looking through my stuff? like my pronz
User avatar #28 - fistymcbeefpunch (12/15/2014) [-]
Fear not!
If the feds manage to pass it as an amendment it still has to get approval of 3/4 of the state legislatures.

Follow the bill, if it passes contact state representatives to stop it.

does this affect other countries aswell ?
probably will considering that the United states already got caught spying on germany and ****
User avatar #11 - lordofthesea (12/14/2014) [-]
I remember seeing it broken down by some dude on reddit somewhere, and it's explained that this bill extends to existing wiretaps where other criminal activity is accidentally discovered. In such an event, the data can be retained for proper prosecution, despite the lack of a warrant which lead to its discovery.

I could be misinformed. anybody else have anything to weigh in on this?
