Counter-Strike is the best FPS? understatement. It invented, inspired, an changed First Person Competitive multiplayer. I remember when cs 1.3 came, shit was intense. You faggots playing you CoD n shit online have CS to thank for that. All the mods, gamemodes, actions, is all from CS.

CS and any other VALVE made game fills up the top 10 best FPS's of all time. I will argue that and destroy anyone else's opinion. Because this is fact >:)

Borderlands can be competitive. When you try and steal shit from other players, dueling said players, but then again, you have a point.

Borderlands does lose replay value, yeah, but it was still a pretty good game I think. Especially split screen with a friend which is how I mostly played it.

I'm not saying Valve is bad, their games are awesome, but I have had more fun with Borderlands than their games. And, being Australian, I can't enjoy L4D2, the satisfaction from killing a zombie is removed because there isn't any gore.

Really anon? CoD has invented nothing. The only things they've contributed to the genre have been negative, namely greed. They've introduced the industry to the idea that quality and profit no longer go hand in hand. Now devs prefer to pander to the lowest common denominator than actually make a good game. They see CoD with it's stone age host system, dated graphics and dumbed down gameplay raking in money hand over fist. There's a reason CoD is so hated by gamers over the age of 14, it's ruining the industry for the rest of us.

If you're going to credit anyone with inventing the genre that CoD is tearing down it would be Doom/Wolfenstein 3D for getting the ball rolling. If you're talking modern FPS games it would be Halo. It re-invented the genre in 2001 and literally invented online multiplayer on consoles in 2004.

CoD was the start of the new perk and killstreak system. But honestly I don't really think people doing really good should be rewarded by getting even more kills.

I know that feeling. I had it at first. I pushed through it and "broke it in." Now I love it. It's incredible and true to cs. You just gotta take time and play it. It doesn't deserve the bad rep it has been getting. I've been playing CS since before steam, CS:GO is perfect. Worth the 15 bucks. Just gotta get good at it and get use to it. Takes some time. Try playing offline with bots on easy. It helps to start, even for an experienced player.

I feel that all the time, everyone does think mw3 made gun game. CS:S inspired a lot of other games to do what they have been doing.

Too be honest I think zombies started on COD because of CS:S aswell (Zombie Mod Servers)

Counter-strike inspired most gamemodes you see in CoD now. It still is my favorite FPS. CS:GO is incredible.

Actually. From what I've played, I enjoy it as much as 1.6. It brought back hard teamwork, smooth shooting, and good game modes. CS:GO doesn't deserve some of the hate its been getting.

I got MW3 from my parents as a birthday. Gave it a try. There is an Option to auto-mute everyone instantly. Did it, played a few days, got bored, back to BF3.

I couldn't. Halo and Battlefield 1942/expansion packs were both out for 4 years by the time I was old enough (around 12) to be capable of playing them in 2006. Battlefield 2 came out the same year (I bought that too lol). I was probably a 6-year-old when the first Xbox games were coming out!

The variety of mods in Counter Strike made me love the game.

It was like, whenever I was bored I could just discover a new neat mod that I could play.

They are entirely different kind of shooters man. Counterstrike goes for realism with tactics in a way.. Quake and Unreal Tournament are just basic shoot em' up frag fests.
They are all very fun to me though.
