I don't know if this is when I gave up but it's definitely when I started to.

>Be 8
>Middle child, two brothers, one is 2 years older, other 1 year younger
>Mom leaves
>She takes our cat and half the stuff in the house
>Uses mine and my brothers future college fund to rent apartment in other city
>Don't see her anymore
>Younger brother asks my dad "why did she take the cat instead of me?"

That was about the time my feels overloaded.

I feel like I didn't add why this is why I gave up on girls.
This situation with my mom made me the king of all mommy issues, definitely hard to hold on to a relationship, haven't "given up" yet but it made it hard to trust women afterwards

Freud.
Your mother is your early on image of the perfect woman, if your mother is gone... Well, there is no perfect female to compare to, so you have no way to rate someone. Now that you know that you always rated girls to your mother, how do you feel? You never had real relationships with girls I take. Man, once you know yourself better, maybe then you might have more chance.

Well not to be argumentative but I got to say I disagree with most of that. Tis an interesting perspective though.
Also I'm not depressed, I just saw other people posting why they gave up, thought I'd jump in on the action.

I think that it's normal, and that the only way to get rid of that is by truly knowing yourself. But of course, to each their own theory.
