Why not put the jacket in the freezer and pull the gum off in chunks????

Put the shirt in a freezer over night and pull the gum off in the morning. This will only work, however, if the gum is still in a largely solid form. To get rid of the smaller particulates, regular detergent won't work. You'll be better off using dish soap like dawn and scrubbing the material with a course paper towel. Make sure to put a tiny bit of the detergent on the shirt where it can't be seen, or on a fabric of the same material and leave it for a while to ensure that the soap doesn't leave any marks. Don't scrub with a paper towel if the material is very fragile or likely to unravel with rough treatment. And if that doesn't work, you're just fucked.
