I feel like this person may have traveled all over the world, but not all over America. There are a lot of great places in America that don't even come close to what this person is describing.

The middle-class exists. I know this, because I grew up middle class, and would still be middle-class if I lived back in Tennessee.
It's not impossible to start a business, it's just difficult. And everyone is too terrified to try because the world has us convinced it's impossible. *cough*google*cough*microsoft*.
Welfare is an issue, and many Americans also believe it should be either heavily altered or done away with. I personally think there should be tighter restrictions on it (such as the drug testing that the OP of the thread in this content put down as terrible oppression.)
The rich are taxed more heavily because they keep finding a way out of it. The government here is corrupt and incompetent, but the same can be said about most countries in the world. But the growing prevalence of third-party and independent-party candidates, it's a mending process. Not only that, but the growing awareness of civilians and our growing willingness to act (see:occupy Wall St.) bodes nothing but well for future activism and an improving country.

If you are an unambitious person, then you might get better welfare payments elsewhere.
A lot of the reason Euorpe has such generous social welfare programs is that they have had the USA to do the heavy lifting when it comes to defending them from naughty neighbors (think Russia). That ha s left them with more money for education, welfare, etc. than if they had to have "real" armies and navies to defend themselves.
to OP: glad your ass is gone. Take more of your kind with you.

Glad I read all of that. Pretty eye opening. While I can't say I'm exactly proud to be American after reading that.. I can say I'm proud to at least have the opportunity to leave.

Thank you.
