Good movie, but as soon as I saw the "third death star and send 12 x-wings to blow it up" I admit I was kinda disappointed, force awakens 8/10

RIP Ilum.
Ilum being the planet they built it on, not the ones it destroyed. They made all of those planets for the movie.

Not everything is outright said. It is in the same location on the new canon map as Ilum was in the old canon map. It also matches the physical description of the planet. Also since Ilum is where Jedi go to retrieve their lightsaber crystals (besides Dantooine). It makes sense that they used the large supply of crystals to focus the beam enough to hit an entire star systems worth of planets dead on simultaneously.
nevermind i saw the map. but Ilum doesn't have trees on it...I don't think, and Ilum's shown up in the clone wars.

That is true and seems to be the only thing to seem off. However I think it would be a waste of storytelling for them to say that it isn't Ilum given it's location and that it can explain how the laser was built. Prefer them not to tell us for sure though as I think it is better storytelling to let us speculate and question. A good story allows for lots of mythos.

Yeah usually the novels take care of the details like that. I'm also hoping that the planet that Luke is on in the end of the movie is Rakata Prime. There is some good evidence to support this one as well. One being it's recent canonization with the release of the previously mentioned map. It would also explain the map which is not tied to Luke but the planet. It could be the same star map from the KoTOR game. It is mentioned by Kylo Ren that the parts of the map that they have were salvaged from the Empire and JJ mentioned that R2 got it from the Death Star when he hooked up to the mainframe. The planet fits the description perfectly except for being strictly tropic. And they both are in the same location on the Galactic Map. I just hope the new director goes in the direction that I think JJ was trying to send it. But this is just speculation until the new movie.
I gotta admit this thing was really ******* cool in my opinion.

I think they shouldn't have used another death weapon (its the third time they've used one as a plot device in 7 movie) but i thought it was handled well enough. Am i happy? no, but i am satisfied

But the old canon always had it's fair share of *********
For every good book and character there were at least two bad ones

three death stars, plus six superweapons to surpass a death star. w
I agree, as would anyone who like scale and spectacle.

I liked the movie and all, but I found what they did kinnda funny for this thing.
When they discuss a battle plan they're like "This was the deathstar....NOW THIS IS THE SUPER-DUPER DEATHSTAR"
It's as if they were trying to make a point of being "no we're not re-hashing the plot of 4, this time the deathstar is bigger"
Still liked it, but I found that part a little weird.

Yeah, asked myself that question myself too... my explanation would be that siths had pretty much upper hand at that time so they made it as big " **** you" to the resistance. Kinda like building monuments after war... in evil way
Also kylo ren was really obsessed by darth vader, so I get why building the same thing as he did was one of his goals

well...more like isis, but the new republic didn't give a **** about them.
they didn't have the upper hand...they were more like ISIS at this point.
I know, they could at least of had more than just one shield generator, and showed the entire fleet before takeoff. That would've made the whole Starkiller scene a lot better.

That was one character addressing another, not a breaking of the fourth wall
I agree. The best way of self-humor was Han Solo's "Come on, it's just bigger".
From the physicist point of view, something feels remotely off, if a planet is sucking up a star's mass, and everything still is the same with the planet... size, gravity, heat etc...

They can traverse the space between stars in a matter of days whilst only travelling at 1.5 times the speed of light. You can see the planets within a visible range of one another when they're getting blown to hell. Lightsabers have no mass and yet they still somehow manage to put leverage in to the blade as if it were made of steel.
Physics ain't **** when the film ain't a sci fi. This is a fairy tale, and it's a beautiful mess.

don't...don't try to apply physics to star wars, it's just going to be one *********** .
***** , back in the old canon there were literally nine deathstar like superweapons three of which were actual death stars including the first two that were destroyed in A new hope and return of the jedi.

another thing people seem to miss is that the Empire probably was working on this thing at the same time as the death star, since it was around for a good 50 or so years before, a top secret project that the emperor himself probably personally kept secret plans for so that they wouldnt be found, no way the First Order had the time or resources for that thing
