Get a magnet and rub it all over the harddrive (you may have to take it out with a screwdriver) and it should let you boot from recover.

Just open up all the screws on the underside of the laptop and find the biggest magnet you can get, and rub it in a spiral motion for six or seven loops around.

There should be several slots on the bottom of the laptop you can open with a small screwdriver. The one with the hardrive may be marked with a symbol that looks like several stacked discs. It just looks like a small box, you don't need to take it out you just need to get the magnet directly on there.
