Well, they aren't actually upset about the memes that they inspired (Please, for the love of god, correct me if I'm wrong), so I see no reason why we should stop for them.
Take the Laundry Room Viking (Do the laundry, they said! It would be fun, they said!) for instance. He doesn't have anything wrong with his face being exploited in (questionably) funny pictures. Thus, no one takes the stuff down.

Well, in that case, it's just a matter of insulting those with mental disabilities all together. It's not because of that girl in particular or even Down's Syndrome as a whole. Personally, not to be a moralfag or anything, I don't enjoy people using mental defects as an insult or derogatory term. (Probably because some of my friends and family are affected themselves.) Still, Facebook, 4chan, and whatever other sites that promoted this stuff probably took things a little too far.
