He plans to lower taxes on the poor and tax the rich heavily.
He actually said that people below a certain income wont even have to pay taxes.
He even joked that his tax plan would cost him a lot of money.
That doesnt sound like making the rich richer and the poor poorer to me?

He said that but the actual tax plan published shows it's not true. He'd have corporations taxed about 20 percent even though the current effective tax rate is about 22 percent. He'll also barely decrease the amount of poor people who won't pay taxes from what it already is, and overall his tax plan would cost trillions and he is yet to say what he would cut to make up for the lack of budget.

Eh. If 9/11 didn't happen Bush would have likely been known as an education president for his work with the NCLB, controversial but effective in the eyes of the education system.

Jeb also has repeatedly proven that he stands apart from his family and is trying to use his own merits to get the presidency. That's more admirable than I can say about either his father or brother. If he changed his name we would all be sucking his dick right about now.

Sanders and Trump probably won't get anything done due to their more radical beliefs. But Jeb is a man of compromise and flexibility. If only his orating skills were better... he'd be my favorite. As it stands right now though, even he doesn't add up to my admittedly high expectations.

The NCLB, though I hate it with every fiber of my being, did do a lot for improving teacher and school standards. It did nothing with higher education, though.

From what I've seen of him, Jeb's actually estranged from his family. He's apparently paving his career with his own money and not his father's.

The first Bush only messed up an already bad situation. In terms of presidency he'd get a C-. Not the best guy in the world, but not the worst president we've had recently cough carter

His plan to build the wall and make Mexico pay for it will double their deficit likely leading to even more problems with Mexico's strained government spending that they use to barely keep control of cartels (with our help).

This destabilization could cause even more illegal immigration from Mexico as people get the hell out of the sinking boat and go to America. So either we pay for it ourselves (which would be a big expenditure) or we invest even more in helping the Mexican government fight the war against the cartels after we get them to cut their budgets. This is not assisted by the fact that the most recent government budget has already cut law enforcement spending.

Bottom line, the Mexican government will have to cut so much funding it will pretty much be useless across the board as the systems they have in place aren't exactly golden to being with. The only way a government will willingly double a deficit is if it gets strong armed into it, which I doubt people will enjoy strong arming our neighbor into ruin over a wall. The wall it a terrible idea and will cause more problems than it solves.

I don't want anymore illegal immigration but looking at the finances of the wall meant to stop illegal immigration it will most likely increase it by a **** ton. No amount of his memes will allow me to overlook this blatantly terrible idea.

You make an interesting point but I disagree with your conclusion.

The National Journal( www.nationaljournal.com/s/70020/this-is-how-much-donald-trumps-immigration-plan-would-cost-america-if-mexico-doesnt-pick-up-tab ) has a much lower estimate for the cost of fencing the US border, coming in at $6.4 billion. But whether is it $6.4 billion or $25 billion is irrelevant because Mexico will pay for the wall, one way or another.

We have a yuuge trade imbalance with Mexico to the tune of $55(ish) billion dollars. If we place an additional tariff of 10% on Mexican goods we will recover the price of the wall within 5 years. I know that this doesn't factor in decreased trade due to the tariff, but I'm sure the final rate can be negotiated so that we get the money for the wall without completely devastating the Mexican economy.

Trump has signaled a noninterventionist (our at least non-"boots on the ground") policy towards the Middle East which will free our troops to man and patrol the wall.

Something needs to be done about illegal immigration and immigration in general or we will face demographic annihilation. sounds super racist and edgy, I know

No, NAFTA makes too much money for both American companies and Mexico for tariffs to be taken seriously, don't get me wrong NAFTA has its problems, it displaces Mexican farmers and can both cost and create jobs for Americans depending on how its handled. But the businesses that has been built between Canada, America, and Mexico using NAFTA have become essential in many parts of life due to their ability to keep prices down. I don't see Trump who, no matter how seriously you take him, is considered a joke to most corporations that don't share his interests being able to go against major lobbying like that. Plus it would require renegotiating NAFTA, and if that isn't a Pandora's box in itself you're telling me he want's to renegotiate it in our favor? Not likely.

Regardless 6.4 is still over a fifth of their deficit, still a humongous increase in spending and no matter how much you force Mexico they won't pay it because the budget cuts that would result from that is still enough to destroy what little balance there is in Mexico. And even if Trump is able to force them to take what he makes into the lesser of two evils, either maybe being destroyed by tariffs or by expenditure that doesn't go anywhere near befitting their own people, it would make America actually and unabashedly be considered the biggest pieces of **** in the international theater for forcing them to make that choice which will not assist relations with other countries. yeah maybe you don't care but imagine other countries starting to shy away from trading with the US after seeing us spin it around so forcefully and twist someone's arm for money using trade agreements, people would think twice because they wouldn't want that to happen to them whether or not we would actually do it and we could miss out on serious markets

Over 10% of Mexico's population lives within our borders, costing our government billions of dollars a year. How is that not being the biggest piece of **** in the international theater? Many of your positions seem to be arguing from the perspective that Mexico is a great neighbor and any sort of push back against their policy of allowing their citizens to trespass into the US is the ultimate dick move.

Mexico is taking advantage of the US. A little bit of hardball would not be uncalled for.

Regardless, do you notice how the only thing we are really arguing about is who is going to pay for the wall? Not if the wall should be built, how it would be built, or what effect it would have, just how to pay for it. Scott Adam of Dilbert fame has a great blog post on how Trump gets people to "think beyond the sale". Well Mexico doesn't let them, they choose to. And the sale is extremely important when we are considering building one of the biggest man made structures on the face of the earth. I do not understand why you wouldn't be concerned with how we are going to pay for that or whether or not it could literally destroy a country, I'm not saying that it is the best country in the world or that it's great that they have no control over their populace leaving to a country that isn't as **** but I'm not going to cap the country right next to us in the knee, you know why? Because that would cause a massive influx of legal and illegal immigration as people leave a financially ruined country and come to the US which is what we're trying to avoid. The coyotes are already a massive and complex organization, imagine how powerful they will become when a huge influx of immigrants want to leave the country due to the instability brought on by an increased deficit where the money went to another country. The whole plan is a recipe for disaster.

Just in 2011 the IRS collected around 11. 2 billion dollars in taxes from illegals. An interesting read, and I would like to point out that a lot of pockets are going to get fat if we do build the wall because we're talking about billions. So on top of the money we have spent we will be spending an additional 6 billion at least.

I suspect people will start building tunnels like the cartels do and it's going to get worse. Why don't we reform the immigration laws to allow people to come to the US legally without having to wait years and years, or maybe we would get rid of the cartels by not snorting so much coke. Or we could aid mexico more instead of giving billions of dollars to israel. Or we could use those 6 billion to improve education on the US, since right now most high school students can't even do basic algebra.

Building a wall is just a stupid idea and basically a ban aid to a bigger problem. If we fix mexico's problem with the cartels, Mexico's standard of living will increase and illegals will stop coming.

And to finish up, I think forcing mexico to pay for a wall would be a gigantic dick move and would basically be a free pass for Putin to come rolling with money (he is already making deals with south america and is creeping north). And i don't think Mexico having mexico get real friendly with the Russians can be good at all.

Basically building a wall is just a stupid idea that common people understand, but in reality the issue and consequences are more complex. Obviously candidates like to bring up a wall because even a kid can come up with that one, but as soon as you tell americans about fixing immigration laws then they don't know what the hell those laws are.

It's either Trump or Carson. Mostly has a lot to do with their backgrounds (Large-scale development and Neurosurgery, respectively). In their minds whatever they do has to work, or everyone involved suffers. So they make sure their plans can work.

That, and they're complete outsiders. Makes them a threat to the status quo. Washington needs a kick in the ass, that's for sure...

Jeb is a Bush. We can't have another Bush in office, as he'll likely to drag this country into another War on Whatever and sign in a few laws that erode our Constitutional freedoms just a tiny bit more.

But as people have shown examples of in this thread and in what I posted, Trump's not the golden savior his supporters make him out to be. As a republican, I don't really support him for president, as he's incredibly weak in places we need strength, but darn it, I love him for what he's doing to the elections in general.

He's making fools of media everywhere, causing once comfortable politicians to start sweating, and stealing the title of "Next Political Celebrity" from both Obama and Hillary. He's amplifying and directing people's anger at the broken system and making many more people than before get involved and educated about the issues.

In the end, as elections near, you're going to see Trump's numbers fluctuate more and the runners up will start really gaining traction as it starts coming down to the wire and less candidates are in the mix. I don't expect Trump to win through his controversy, but he's going to severely influence the end result of this election and future politics in general, no doubt, and I dunno, I wouldn't mind him in the next cabinet.

It's currently a toss up between Rubio, Cruz, and Carson in my eyes. And I don't necessarily mind either of them taking point for the primary.

Each has their good points, and their aggressiveness is generally more well received than Bush, Christie, and Paul. Rubio has his inexperience, and he concerns me with his continuation of info gathering policies, but he has a good understanding of foreign affairs and presents his ideas clearly and to the point. I love Cruz's debating skills and deal-making skills (would make a great Sec. of State) but is a bit short-sighted, dodges questions too much, and becomes condescending and reverts to a lawyer when under pressure. Carson is surprising me as time goes on at how increasingly aggressive he's becoming, and is shaping up to be the most aggressive wartime president of the group, but his understanding of the flawed healthcare service and other bureaucratic associations in the higher up areas, and what they're doing wrong is a necessary thing to have to reform them properly.

In a perfect world, I'd like Rubio as president with most of the candidates currently in his cabinet, but there's a lot of good possibilities to come of this. I can't see Hillary get over her controversial history all the way through, and I expect her dragging down a few people with her when it cracks down.

I'll admit I wasn't old enough to vote in 2008, but at least Obama had actual political experience and knew something about the issues at the time.
There's a difference between repeating political slogans at rallies or during speeches and giving slogan-like answers to specific questions.

I don't fault Trump for saying "Making America Great Again" per se, but I do fault him for not being able to answer questions properly when they're asked of him, in contrast to nearly all of the other candidates. Granted, all politicians have their own ways of dodging questions at times, but Trump does it more than anyone else I can think of despite being "not a politician".

For instance, look at this video from the first debate. Trump is asked twice to back up his claims that Mexico is intentionally sending it's ********* criminals as illegal immigrants to America. Tell me if you think he answered the question:

To be honest, the only one who doesn't have a significant problems seems to be Rubio, but the trouble with him is that I'm not sure he's a serious contender. He definitely wasn't in the last election.

Carson is soft-spoken and seems honest and has a lot of ideas I agree with, but he keeps saying retarded stuff which is going to cost him any chance of winning if he keeps it up.
