In skateboarding, grinding is essentially sliding your skateboard across something, such as a rail, curb, or ledge.

In RPGs, grinding is the process of doing one thing over and over to gain experience points.

In RPG's, if you have to level your character up, then you usually do quests which give mass money and exp for rewards. In some games the quests are all that is needed to level up. However in many games the quests dont give enough experience, therefore you must "gind." An act of fighting monsters over and over for minimal exp until you level up. In the hard grinding games it can take weeks of grinding to go up a single level.

Yes. I used to play RuneScape to the max. Quit like 3 yrs ago. I got like 7 99's and it took me 6 years... plus a bunch of 80s in other levels but still... Holy fuck that game was a piss off.

Quite tedious indeed. Also, I hated training magic via alchemy. Though if you have a mouse recorder, it's easy.

Yeah, you could do essence running, but that was annoying too. You'd have to camp out in Fally or in Varrock to get enough runes.

Yeah, it's not too hard getting 99 firemaking, mainly because you can get in a rhythm, or you can use a mouse recorder (which is untraceable for Jagex) for every load you get. Light them, then bank, etc.

Agility's hard to even do that, unless you do actual botting.

yeah, for some reason i liked agility. i had it at 69 i think. cool thing is that if your not a member anymore, agility will still work. which is kinda cool. i missed doing quests for some reason.. but i spent all of 5-7th grade playing that game. ill still check in on the game everynow and then. it looks gay compared to what it was 2-4 years ago.

I went into a smaller store for a midnight release of Disgaea 4 (was also for another game, think it was Dead Island), owner gave me a free upgrade to the collector's edition just because I "was the only one there with any taste in games".

It's actually pretty popular compared to other SRPG dood, but the genre itself isn't popular

Okay sure.

I know it's subjective and "lol nostalgia goggles," but hear me out.

Me and a friend played on retail servers and we owned a private one as well. We were always behind in patches and we were usually behind each expansion by 12-18 months to see how well it worked out on blizzard. We noticed that over time the Blizz dev's started to recycle every damn dungeon they had in classic. I'm not saying it's bad, but when there is a PATCH that just updates zul'amon, zul'gurub and hardly anything else, then there is a problem. We had to literally make our own dungeons and boss scripts to keep people interested in our private server. Another thing we noticed is that the Retail community degraded faster than our private server. What I mean by that is that the skill of players went down significantly over time and people were more obsessed with gear than having a good time. When we launched ICC our private server started to degrade pretty bad (around the time a lot of my friends quit retail.) We ended shutting down a few months ago, right before we were going to launch Cata. It was open for since early 2006.

My friend still plays it, but I think I am going to join TOR with a few friends of mine and see how that works out.

I guess. But I play the game to play it with my friends. It has nothing to do with content really. If I enjoy the content it's a bonus. Recycling and updating ideas happens all the time. Wow's evolving, it can't stay how it was in vanilla. Plus, a new kick ass expac is coming out, so I don't know what will happen after that. The point is that WoW's got a decent following, and it isn't just going to die.

I may give it another shot this summer if TOR doesn't turn out well.

I tried TOR this past Christmas, and I ended up getting bored of it after about two months. It's a lot more engaging than WoW, but it still has that grinding aspect that I do not fully enjoy.

I recommend that you try it though, your tastes most likely vary from mine. Also, I highly recommend you check out Guild Wars 2, that game looks fucking amazing.

I remember runescape when there was deadly randoms, the kind that kept you on your feet, never knowing when to expect a drunken dwarf to start pestering you or a evil chicken to start attacking. It was entertaining to watch some skilling pure get pummeled by a strange plant or river troll.

now runescape has compleatly changed. I admit I could stand most changes, because things change with time, because time does that. It was when Jadex started actually changing the very fundamentals of Runescape did i start minding...
they actually removed a quest and replaced it with a new one... not to mention the burthrope update for new players when tutorial island is already there. I would say I quit when they changed the metal and dragonskin armor in a recent (ish) update. It didn't even look like the original, it was like a different game to me then.

It did not die overnight, It staggered as its old players realized that runescape was changing into a different game, gear unrecognizable from players who quit years ago. Its still around, but it used to be much more popular before some updates were implemented.

*OPINION* I think 7 is the most overrated FF out there, I tried it as a kid, tried it a few months ago, I still don't like it compared to other FF's
reason 1, slow pacing, most FF's I'm out an about immediately after a short prologue (hell every other RPG has a shorter prologue than FF7), but in FF7 I'm in that huge city for a HUGE portion of the game, I wanna get out and explore sooner or later!
reason 2, bad conveyance, I have no idea what I'm doing half the time, the game doesn't really tell you anything and I'm left wandering half the time wtf am I supposed to do?
reason 3, MINI GAMES, or scenes like the marching scene, is really supposed to be this hard to just walk on a march, is there any reason why I'm supposed to do that to begin with? They're unnecessary, a pain in the ass to complete, and just like reason 2, I have no idea wtf is going on half the time!
I can go on, but those are my 3 biggest gripes with the game and therefore I can't enjoy it like everyone else does... Idk y people LOVE 7 so much?

yeah dude i played the shit out of PSP2 on my psp and i LOVED that game the only thing that ruined it for me was that i could not trade rare weapons with my bros. That was like the whole success of PSO, i just think that was a bad move.

ive never tried to trade between people so it wasnt a huge deal for me but yeah i had well over 100+ hours into the game and psp2infinity was better, it had a unique campaign for the new characters and an entirely new weapon type
