Okay let's play a little game now where we change the story a bit. All guns are banned yay! But this time the guy pulling out his assault rifle which he got from the black market for less than $1000 is the only one with a gun because all guns are banned! Yay now only the bad guy has a gun! Oh wait, we'll just call the police! Oh wait the average police response time is 10-15 minutes! He's killed everyone in the room and is either already gone or shot himself! Yay!

Now let's play this where not all guns are banned.

Crazy guy pulls out assault rifle, kills a few people, law abiding citizen concealed carrying shoots him in the back, less people are killed.

Why do you need to talk about hypothetical scenarios.

Here is one someone gets angry and drunk and instead of starting a fist fight he pulls out his gun and manages to get multiple shots off

You're scenario is statistically worse than mine because in Europe with strict gun laws we have far less mass shootings that require guns to prevent them

My scenario seems to happen quite a lot

thats true you do have far less mass shooting in Europe, but murders committed with blunt and edged weapons are significantly higher than in the US

Yeah too bad being under the influence of alcohol and operating a firearm is already a federal offense. So I guess a law didn't stop him there. And let's take it from another scenario. A man gets drunk, instead of starting a fight he stabs the other man with a kitchen knife. Do we ban all kitchen knives? No, banning weapons does not stop people from owning them. Also people use firearms in self defense more times than people are murdered with firearms per year in America. In Europe (let's use GB for an example) once they banned firearms they experienced a 200% rise in violent crime (specifically knife violence and home break ins). And let's not forget, America's second amendment is NOT intended for defending only from criminals but from governments, domestic and foreign. And as another comment said on this post, that was written before the US government said they want the power to drone strike their civilians without due process.

Kitchen knives serve another purpose ... But that's why you're not allowed to be carrying round a knife for no reason

But it's why stabbing people with a knife is illegal ...

Your crime stats are also off because the definition of violent crime in the UK changed, a burglary and car theft is included in violent crime

Do you not think that you need to address the number of gun murders and that there might be a link between guns and gun murders hahaha

Do you not think that you need to address that out of all of the gun murders in the US last year 80% were suicide (yes that counts as murder), 10% were self defense, the rest were police shooting criminals and then the small percentage of criminal shootings.

Yeah ...

80% suicides and you don't think that that is a problem, check out what happened in the UK in the earl 1900's when they stopped using coal ovens.

So maybe instead of stripping people of rights we improve mental health?

Except people defend themselves more often then they're killed by firearms in the US.

Can't actually calculate how many lives are saved by guns

The FBI estimated based on reports the lowest of which being 80-100k people per year.
