It's a /k/ slur towards people who only like to hunt and don't really care what gun they use. Elmer Fudd was chosen to illustrate the point.

This will probably just get thumbed down to oblivion but maybe someone will find it interesting.

What he mean't by making sure he's gonna eat it is part of what people generally refer to as ethical hunting. I'm a hunter, love it more than anything, but I don't love it cause I have some insatiable blood lust for animals. I love all animals, being in the woods with them is an incredible experience and I've seen nature in it's truest form. That being said, I'm still a trophy hunter and am after the kill. Any time a kill is made, you eat the animal, you never kill just for fun. Most people just use the meat, I actually save the hide and sinew for some projects. But leaving the meat is a huge violation of hunting ethics. There's no exact set rules of hunting ethics, everyone just kinda knows them and is taught them by whoever teaches them to hunt. The rules are basically to maintain our respect for nature and to not cause the animals any unnecessary pain. One rule is never take a shot that theres a chance you might just injure the animal, that's the last thing you want to do, cause then you've killed an animal, in a very painful way, no one gets meat, no one gets the trophy, and the animal suffers.

So that's the end of my rant on hunter ethics. maybe someone will find this kinda interesting, it's just people seem to have the idea hunters are bloody thirsty savages who hate animals and generally, we're not. and hopefully you guys learned a little.

Hogs are a "hazard to the environment"
The damn land in the video is a barren wasteland.
User avatar #77 to #57 - penalcupcake (08/18/2015) [-]
Barren yeah, but it's still privately owned property. Ranch owners will either ask individuals to exterminate pigs for them, or will just kill them themselves.

Property is an investment, just like a car. And just like a car, you want to make sure your investment is well maintained.

Property damage is still property damage and wild pigs cause hundreds of millions of dollars worth of it annually.
User avatar #80 to #77 - capricore (08/18/2015) [-]
I wouldn't call wild pigs rummaging up barren land a million dollar loss.
The land is so ****** ,that they only survive there.
Talk about a barren waste from over farming, cropping.
It's like owning a soon to be desert.

Tho shooting pigs from a heli, hell yea.
User avatar #81 to #80 - penalcupcake (08/18/2015) [-]
You're right, it's not a million dollar loss. Rather, hogs cause over 1.5 Billion dollars of damage to land, property, agriculture, and livestock.

I get what you're saying, but the land those guys are hunting is private property. And when someone shells out a few million dollars for a lot of land, you want to make sure your investment is protected, regardless of whether or not it's in the middle of nowhere.

User avatar #52 to #5 - sodapops (08/17/2015) [-]
That's really spot on. Who feeds the deer and birds at their own expense in a hard winter? Who builds nests for the waterfowl? Who lets up land to make a swamp or feeding field? Not bloody PETA, that's for sure. We do, the hunters. Because we love animals.
Some people seem to think a hunter is angry, hateful or gloating when he kills. That's so wrong. Super excited and happy with a pulse through the roof is the only way I can describe it. As for always eating what you kill... Predator or vermin hunting is not a bad idea every now and then, even if you don't want to eat them. Happily, my daughter has started curing hides to make clothes so I can use more of the predators too.

In just 6 days I go on a 7 week hunting trip.I can barely wait. Every year I use all my vacation days to hunt with my beloved dog. Hunting wood grouse a whole day and then relax with some good food and a beer by the campfire while the stars come out is heaven to me.
User avatar #54 to #52 - billymayss (08/17/2015) [-]
We also pay for almost all wildlife conservation efforts. While we do a ton ourselves for the animals, the proceeds from buying licenses, equipment (Commonly, I know cabela's donates some of their profits to different conservation efforts), and most anything else we buy for hunting/fishing, goes towards protecting them and helping them flourish.
#24 to #5 - greedtheavaricious (08/17/2015) [-]
Dunno why you would get thumbed down. (Almost) Everybody eats meat, you just go the extra mile and kill it yourself.
User avatar #53 to #24 - billymayss (08/17/2015) [-]
Well I said that because I know there's not really a hoard of hunters on this site and I assume most people don't really give a **** about it. And generally talking about things no one cares about online doesn't get the best feedback lol

I killed a boar on my birthday, I have 300 pounds of pissed off boar in my fridge. The thing nearly turned me into a slushy red spot on the ground, so to honor it I intend on letting none of it waste. I give the meat to friends on special occasions and tell them to spit it out if they feel something hard I was using soft point rounds and wasn't thinking about the meat when it was up my ass with its jagged tusks . I thank God for the speed of a Lee Enfield's bolt, **** might have saved my life that day.

gif related, what I felt like when it was charging me.

This is anywhere that isn't the Atlanta metro area which I don't accept as really being part of Georgia , I'ma need you to be more specific. Is it South Georgia (gnat hell), West Georgia (dangerously close to Alabamaland),Middle Georgia (home of musical legends Otis Redding, the Allman Bros., Little Richard, Capricorn records, etc.), East Georgia (golf land/Classic City, God's Country/dangerously close to South Carliney), or North Georgia (way up chyander in the mahwntans).
