The general idea "communism" isn't bad, but then again no country has ever made it work

i agree with you to some extent, the theorists that created these collectivist ideologies thought that it would be the best for the people but there was too high of a degree of government control in the lives of the citizens. And this isn't only true because of communist dictators wanting power but some of the first great minds to come up with these ideologies (such as Thommas Hobbes embraced the idea of a lack of freedom).

The idea of communism may not be bad, but it is not a practical form of government. That's why nobody has made it work.

i honestly found that communism is not that bad of an idea its just that some people prevent it from working the way Karl Marx imagined it would be. i mean it would be a good idea to make everyone economically the same but it just takes a small group of people that **** it all up then came Stalin who gave marxism the bad name it has gotten by trying to take over Europe with it. if used right it would be one of if not the best form of government but as people are they will always **** it up

Communism, in theory (and I can't stress that word enough, theory), is the very best political system. The problem is people.

Maybe, as it is mentioned in Zeitgeist, if everything is free then would you take 100 litres of milk every day, because you can take, even if you can't drink it all?
You can say people are greedy, because who has 15 cars is a "bigger" man then who has only one. Technology like 3D printing in the near future will allow us to create cars without any big effort and from cheap materials. In this case if you take 15 cars I can just print 16 for free... So people basicly can't be greedy in that kind of society.
And if you would be asked to work like 1 hour a week, because everything nowadays can be automatised I think everyone would accept that.

So the best system is the system where successfull people who have worked for their success should be frowned upon and put back into place? These are the ones who creates jobs etc.

Communism doesn't value creativeness, success and the will to stand against the crowd.

Democracy and Republic don't sound as bad as general ideas idear...
In fact even Monarchy (not complete Monarchy) doesn't even sound bad.
It's the way it's used that sucks...
Marxism is in fact a great idea.

Hahaha, well if you were to use favoritism in communism you're allready not making it work.

you broke communism!
User avatar #6 to #5 - silverzepher ONLINE (05/08/2013) [-]
actually, the government showing favoritism would break it, but the main principle is everyone helps everyone, we all share and we try not to eat each others shoes too quickly. but my version of communism is a mix of capitalism, with communism. i have no problems with people making money as long as they pay the same taxes as everyone else. have a 20% flat tax, no exemptions, the governments keep the prisons, and the roads in working order there shouldn't be any trouble.

Communism =/= Capitalism
they're like complete oposites.
You can't have both.
User avatar #8 to #7 - silverzepher ONLINE (05/08/2013) [-]
no they aren't competing ideas, they are 2 separate ideas. capitalism says i want money, and i could really care less about you. while communism says, i want to live, and you should live too, so i will help. so to combine them, it would be "i want money, but you shouldn't die because of it, so here is some food". the reason communism hasn't worked is because they had a leader who was in complete charge and the people really had no say. my version would have a leader who would speak on our behalf to other world leaders, and it would be the peoples choice for how they would live their lives, and what to do. the government's job is to keep the prisons, hospitals and roads in working order, they would be funded by the 20% flat tax.

Sounds like plain socialism to me. Which is also a good system, but people **** it up.

There is a lot of great economic systems, but people **** it up.
User avatar #10 to #9 - silverzepher ONLINE (05/08/2013) [-]
similar but not the same, i believe in the part of communism that says if you are better off you should help others, instead of saying the government should take care of them.

They are all great "ideas" but taken to practice they fail.
What about education and medical care? would that be left out of the goverments involvement? floor and roof prices would be managed by whom? how about foreing policy, how would import export be treated ? there's too many factors not only a few and money doesn't grow on trees... 20% flat tax sounds great but is imposible for some countries, in mine we have just ONE tax that's 21% Tax to the added value, to wich you have to add all the other taxes. services like police, firedept, housing? how about those that when your "ideal" goverment takes power are too poor? that have no houses or jobs? what would your sallary be? would it be the same for everybody? or would you give advantage to those that study?
User avatar #33 to #11 - agentzerothree (05/09/2013) [-]
Government by socialism regime should have involvement in everything to maximum of 50%.

Tax should be 50%. In exchange free everything to an extent such as free food etc.

AT least in THEORY.
Then again Yugoslavia was fine until nationalists ****** everything up.
