When I read through the comments I want to throw up. You guys are the reason why communism didn't have it's own Nuremberg and why about 100 million dead are forgotten.

How can you support totalitarism in any form? There cannot be communism without total control over you? You wouldn't want that would you? Your life guided by others, your goals set by others? Oh, right you didn't think about THAT.

Eastern Europe here: no matter what you students or modern marxists, so-called intellectuals say - socialism destroys people, destroys their wealth, thus sense of right and wrong turning them into rats fighting for survival. It's not about making everybody as rich as the richest, it's about making everybody who is better: more creative, more enterprising, wiser, worse, so he wouldn't stand out from the others. Is it really this good?

I can't say much, now days I know that socialism will never be achievable and using communism to make socialism would never work, but when I was a kid I always imagined socialism as being the smurfs....who didn't want to live in the smurf village as a kid.
Smurf yeah.

socialism can only work in small, close communities, like smurf village, or in countries with enormous, near-limitless resource apparently with small population - like Norway and their petrol. I'm talking economics here. Politically, it always leads to abominations.

Yep, people are to greedy to have socialism, and like you said if it is in a big country it would never work. Even the smurf villiage didn't work that well since Papa Smurf controlled everything and is the only one to wear different color clothes.
He also got the bitch....they only had one, sounds mean with just one

You are talking about russian style communism. Which is indeed terrible.
Tho I can say that scandinavian and german style social democracy works better for average man then american style social darwinism.
Too much government is bad, too little is also bad.
Communism is a failed, and in its basis stupid idea. But that does not discredit moderate socialist ideas, any more then market crash discredits capitalism.

I don't understand a single **** you are saying. First you somehow fuse scandinavian social democracy with socialism. Scandinavian countries are pretty much purely capitalistic societies, with the high taxes as the salt.

Well I have this thing that would help you understand me. Its called education. Try it out.
What do you think social in social democracy means? And yes, they are capitalist societies because unlike what scaremongers on the right would like you to think, blend of socialism and capitalism is not just possible but in many ways desirable.
Its about a goal of society. Do you want a society that has wealth, power and benefits focused or spread out.
Social democracy has capitalist open market society, personal property, stock markets, open financial markets, investment support economy and strong support for small companies.
But it also have socialist aspects such as high and cost of living adjusted minimum vage, universal healthcare, strong support and cooperation with unions, universal education (including higher) and strong worker rights.
It creates slower growing economy, and fewer chances to become a billionaire. But it also provide much more stabile economy and higher living standard.
Socialism is not a boogey man. Its just one system that has its benefits and its faults like every other. And little bit of it doesn't hurt, but genrealy helps.

People already want that you **** .

Socialism doesn't destroy wealth, corrupt people destroy it.

Any form of government works as long as idiots aren't running it.

Total control over you? No such thing unless you are a slave. There is always a choice, even if its suicide or starvation. Even America has a rather large influence over people, what our education system teaches, how corporations are run, our laws, our politics. Don't go talking **** about control before you even understand the basics of politics.
