Am I the only one that thinks muslims are extremely overreacting to pork, like I get it its Haram therefore dont eat it, but touching it and throwing it away or giving it to a non-islamic homeless person or whatever can't be that big of an issue.

It may well have been someone just happened upon the bacon, took a picture and it blew up socially. The police and media could have begun investigating then.

It also could have been the reaction by Muslims that caught the media's eye.

We don't know who made the big deal about it. What we do know is that the media deemed it a hate crime in their story.

It doesn't give us the evidence needed to accuse Muslims of over reacting to the pork.

To be fair this could constitute as a hate ... well crime might be a bit much ... but certainly an act of hate. Since its specifically on a muslim mosques entrance and they are specifically by Muslim tradition not allowed TO COME INTO CONTACT with pig stuff.
