I drink and drive In Mexico it's an amazing thing they call the Oxxo a weboxxo. the name comes from Weba (lazy in rude spanish) and the oxxo. quick store that sells pretty much anything. I drive around drinking dos XX or Tecate and since it's a drive thru in the weboxo just 2 or 3 per city. I ask for more beer, since u driving they sell immediately. the drinking age as well as the driving in Mexico is 18.

It's about the minority that would drink and drive. For them, it's neccesary to keep cars and alcohol as far apart as possible. For instance, where I live it's forbidden to sell alcohol at gas stations for this purpose.

How many people that order food at a drive through drive it all the way home before consuming it? Yes, I think that the less gifted people (like those that go directly for ad hominem arguments in a discussion) are more tempted to drink and drive when alcohol is so readily available from behind the wheel, compared to people who buy some booze along with their regular groceries. It's about the context.

sooshishef (09/27/2015) [-] You can't buy alcohol with regular groceries. It's sold at liquor stores. You can only buy beers and wines of varying types at grocery stores. Hard liquor isn't sold in them (there's a law of I'm not mistaken).
As far as consuming fast food while driving vs consuming alcohol while driving, you're comparing apples to oranges. Fast food and driving is not illegal. Drinking alcohol and driving is. If you eat food and drive in a manner that is dangerous and harmful to others or yourself, you could be arrested. That would be considered distracted or dangerous driving.

About the groceries: where I live, liquor stores are never too far from supermarkets so that people can visit both in one go.
And I'm not saying that eating while driving is illegal, I'm saying that I think some people may be more tempted to drink when alcohol is as easily obtainable as a big mac.

sooshishef (09/27/2015) [-] I understand, but my point, and the point everyone else made, was that if you drive to a liquor store and walk in to buy alcohol vs using a drive through window it might have, in both scenarios you have to drive away. Why would one make you more tempted to drink and drive than the other?

i mean i know it can varie from state to state but why get a permit at 14 if you need two years to get your licence.

If there is no open container law, the driver can have a drink with them as long as they are not intoxicated. 11 states don't have these laws, and surprisingly enough there is no correlation between dui arrest rates and this law.
