Christ, why would your teacher tell you that!? I'm not familiar with the system in America, but, wouldn't 4th grade make you about 7/8? How the hell can you just say that to someone tht young

Yeah, I was eight at the time.
She was a screwed up teacher. Others tried to keep the kids calm but ours straight out told us that if we were picked up then that meant someone in our family could be dead.
Everyone was being picked up from school that day. The air was filled with smoke and debris, people were scared and families wanted to stay together.
I was so relieved when my mother told me that our whole family was well and alive but I absolutely loathed my teacher from that day forward.
I'm pretty sure there were plenty of other kids in my class who shared my feelings as well. There were certainly a few kids who were visibly shattered when they saw someone they knew come to pick them up.
