"Literally live forever." Nothing can live forever, not even theoretically.

the potential is key does mean it can it just that it able to live aslong outside factor don't change that for example deise preditors etc

Saying that something can "literally" live forever is not talking about biological immortality, but some kind of non-existant magical immortality that only exists in fiction.

ignoring most external dangers, it can avoid aging by reverting to infancy (though this has probably been told to you 34 times already)

Yes, yes it has, but it's all right. I was referring to that something "literally" living forever, isn't talking about biological immortality, but something that goes against our current theory of how nothing can live forever.

Theoretically is the only way something can live forever.

the·o·ret·i·cal (th-rt-kl) also the·o·ret·ic (-rtk)
adj.
1. Of, relating to, or based on theory.

As in, the best theory we have right now, explains that the universe cannot go on to exist forever, and so nothing can live forever, according to that theory.

there is no theory of before the universe, its beyond our range of testing, there are hypotheses but there is no way of drawing enough evidence of any of these hypotheses, so they can not be tested and so they can not be theories.

this also applies to after the universe, admittedly I suppose it can not be theoretical to say something can live before or after the universe and by extension forever, BUT (and its a fun one for literal use) Ever is an abstract measurement of time, before and after the universe is not part of ever, as time as we understand it is a dimension of the universe. and so the jellyfish could live forever / until the end of time.

Good point. Though I feel it comes down to semantics, as when I said "forever" I meant it in the hypothetical sense of something happening even past the point of time not existing.

Well that's ******** as well because the very definition of forever is something that exists "for all future time"

Forever doesn't exist past time so neither can this.

You're not sounding smart, you're just digging yourself deeper in a pile of ********.

It can revert its life cycle, but that only provides theoretical biological immortality. It's still not immune to parasites, diseases or being squished to death.

Multiverse theory proves itself wrong. If there are infinite universes, there is a universe that destroys all other universes just by existing.

Not even. Most studies of it are in test labs and not in the environment. Jellyfish become nothing but plankton in their infant state, and the reason why fish like jellyfish lay so many eggs is because so very few of them will actually live. Plankton are extremely vulnerable to predation and disease. Sure, they may revert to youth theoretically indefinitely, but outside of an environment like a sterile scientific one, the chances of any one living to adulthood twice is like .00001%.
