What is it with people and not tipping? I get that it's not required, but it's courtesy. People literally live off of tips because their salaries alone aren't high enough. And if you placed a large order and the pizza place is far away then you should be cognisant of that and realise that, you know, maybe it's going to take a while. It baffles me that people can be this arrogant/oblivious.

i only tip the people who bring me my food and am extra polite and helpful to cleaning staff.

In my experience, they are those who most deserve, need and appreciate it

I'm always polite, even if they're late as **** , but if there's a delivery fee involved (like with pizza hut), I'm not tipping. That fee should go directly to the delivery guy in addition to their paycheck, logically speaking, so I shouldn't have to drop more money on the same thing. If for some asinine reason it doesn't go to the right place, then that's a reason to be pissed.

i worked for dominos recently, and the delivery charge on the ticket goes to the company, not the driver. It's ****** and I have no earthly idea why it is that way, but it is.

People shouldn't have to tip, though.

It's not my responsibility to manage your employee's wages. You should pay them for their work, and I pay them for their services.

Tipping is used so restaurant owners can shove a few more shekels in their pockets at the end of the week.

No, I get that. I totally recognise that you don't have to tip. But honestly, even if I knew someone was being paid well, I'd still tip them if the service was good. It's a courtesy thing. I couldn't care less about whether the restaurant owner is a greedy **** . I tip to thank the employee and the employee alone for his/her service. It also adds an incentive to provide good service, so it's a mutualistic cycle.

fact is they should be getting adequate pay by their employer. What they do is their job to do it. If they are serving you and being polite and what not they are supposed to. same as me.
If I work in IT I am polite and do what I can to provide a good experience for the customer.
by your way of thinking I should expect a tip.

I wrote 'I'd still tip them if the service was good' for a reason. If someone provides ****** service I'm not giving them a tip.

My point was just that if the service was decent, there's really no reason to not tip. One or two more dollars won't break your bank, and if it does, you shouldn't be eating out in the first place. Of course you can tip at your own discretion and it's totally up to you as to what 'good service' entails. Frankly if you 'expect a tip' you're a bit of a selfish cunt. A tip is something the customer adds on out of generosity. ****** sake, even when I go out of my way to do things for people I don't expect a tip. I do it to be helpful.

My other point was that people should be aware of circumstances. If my food takes a long time to come out but the restaurant looks busy and I ordered a big and/or complex dish, I'm not going to slash the tip. Slow food preparation isn't even the waiter's fault, it's the chef's. If I order five pizzas and the pizza place is a 15 minute drive away I'm not going to expect the guy to be at my place in 20 minutes, and withhold a tip if he doesn't. That's retarded.

i know what you mean. I am poor as **** , but whenever i decide to order pizza, i make sure that a tip is included in my spending budget. I have worked ****** jobs before and now the struggle.
