So quick story time. My first real gf I had was in high school, we were together for 3 and 1/2 years before she cheated on me in our first semester of college. I was single for about 5 months before I started dating a girl named Emily. Bros I kid you not I really believed with every fiber of my being that this was the girl I was going to marry. I kept all the **** she had ever given me in this box so no matter what I would always have every tangible item of our years together. I saved every picture (even the ones I hated) so that my first wedding anniversary present to her could be a scrap book filled with all of our adventures, and then I was going to have a bunch of blank pages for "future adventures" (got that **** straight from UP, cause that movie is gold). I had a quick 60 second video that I made every year that just depicted where we were out in our lives how much I loved her, what our plans were ect. I was planning on making a video every year until our 50th wedding anniversary and then show her all of them at once. I even had a system in place where if I died she would for sure get the videos just so she would know how much I really loved her. After 4 years I started talking about getting engaged, she broke up with me out of nowhere but talked about how much she loved me and how happy I made her but she just couldn't marry someone that she "wasn't sure about being with". Now I basically haven't been single for almost 8 years and I have no idea how to handle it. By the grace of God I somehow have a date tomorrow night with 8/10 qt3.14 and I swear I'm terrified I'm going to end up doing some stupid **** like this.

TL;DR
I've basically been in a relationship for 8 years, woman of my dreams broke my heart. I don't know how to be single and I'm fairly confident somehow I will contract autism and fail at all my future dates.

with your date, just go out, hang out with her like youre a friend, if she knows youve just got out of a long term relationship shell probably be understanding. plus its just the first date. go out, have some fun. dont drink too much and if it goes well you will probably have a second, if not, youll find someone else
