Yea thats true but so does the airforce. Griffmaster was probably right, it probably was airmen.
User avatar #37 to #18 - oxYKellark (10/27/2013) [-]
Yeah i was debating that, i though its was like tan or light green.
#10 to #9 - dontnukeme (10/27/2013) [-]
Yeah, I coulda told you that, I'm a marine. It's more I was just correcting his reasoning. Also, Airmen is a rank in the Navy, so this guy above me doesn't know his **** or something.
User avatar #124 to #10 - themarineelite (10/27/2013) [-]
And I believe the only pilots in the Navy as well are Officers and they are addressed by their rank.
#122 to #10 - themarineelite (10/27/2013) [-]
um. Airman in the Navy doesn't exist, it's not even a rate either.
#171 to #122 - dontnukeme (10/28/2013) [-]
Ask any sailor. There are Airmen, Seamen, Firemen, Constructionmen, and Hospitalmen. I'm in NAS Pensacola right now and I talk to Airmen, Airman Apprentices, and Airman Recruits every day.

I knew about everything else except Airmen. Excuse my ignorance, I'm in NJROTC and only know so much from my SNSI

Please, with all do respect, look up Navy Aviation rank structure. For each Rate(MOS, job, etc.) the Navy has they have a slightly different rank structure. It goes Seaman(the most widely ranging one), to Airman, to Fireman to something else I can't recall at the moment.

Very well you are correct about his wrongness I'm a Soldier, neither of us are wrong here though.

I am the only one of my immediate group of friends who has not done anything military related (other than the one dude with scizophrenia). Even the pothead did some basic before he got thrown out.
User avatar #41 to #40 - dagold ONLINE (10/27/2013) [-]
don't feel bad about it. Most military don't look down on those who don't join up. It is a choice and you don't have to if you don't want to.
User avatar #42 to #41 - ironsoul ONLINE (10/27/2013) [-]
I just know, deep down, that after a few days of sleep dep and being screamed at I would snap and attack the drill sergeant. And nobody wants that sort of guy as their battle buddy. I get that. But it still hurts.
User avatar #45 to #42 - dagold ONLINE (10/27/2013) [-]
If it is something you really want to do, you could probably make it. We had total **** bags who somehow managed to graduate, so if you actually want to sign up I'm sure that there are worse who have made it. Knowing that about yourself would be what keeps you from going off. Act right and keep your head down and they tend to leave you alone.
#14 to #13 - oxYKellark (10/27/2013) [-]
It is weird eh? However i question many peoples legitimacy.

You're a medic too? Man, I was told we were a rare breed.
User avatar #163 to #162 - oxYKellark (10/28/2013) [-]
You were told wrong Combat Medics are the second largest MOS in the Army behind Infantry.
User avatar #172 to #163 - dagold ONLINE (10/28/2013) [-]
Seems that way. Braggin ass sergeants. Oh well, good to know there is backup.
#15 to #14 - dagold ONLINE (10/27/2013) [-]
Yeah, I've been called out a few times, often having to give proof.

68W, combat medic. Got out of AIT a few months ago.
User avatar #22 to #21 - imonagoat (10/27/2013) [-]
Right on, cherry huh? Thats cool. Where you stationed?
User avatar #23 to #22 - dagold ONLINE (10/27/2013) [-]
I'm on guard status until my wedding next year where I have a conditional release arranged into active army. I didn't want to leave my fiance behind, so I am guard until April next year.
User avatar #24 to #23 - imonagoat (10/27/2013) [-]
Sweet, how is the guard? I've been toying with reupping as a nasty girl instead of getting out.
User avatar #25 to #24 - dagold ONLINE (10/27/2013) [-]
It isn't bad, it is hard to keep yourself in shape with a sergeant hounding you about it, but I try to keep going to the gym. Honestly being a guard medic is boring as hell. I just sit in an office and wait for one of the infantry to hurt themselves. I signed up to be out fighting with the infantry, so I'm hoping I can do so once I'm active. How is the active army?
User avatar #26 to #25 - imonagoat (10/27/2013) [-]
Well I liked being deployed but garrison is pretty ****** . All depends on which unit you go to and whether or not they're deploying. Also even if you get sent to an infantry unit you still might get assigned to the aid station. Infantry unit is the best place to be though.
User avatar #27 to #26 - dagold ONLINE (10/27/2013) [-]
I can deal with ****** living conditions as long as I'm not under TRADOC rules. Not being able to do **** in my free time was agonizing.
User avatar #28 to #27 - imonagoat (10/27/2013) [-]
My medic is a cherry too and he always talks about how chill AIT was for him, said he drank a lot and all that. I wasn't sure if he was full of **** though. The new army is kinda gay now.
User avatar #29 to #28 - dagold ONLINE (10/27/2013) [-]
the new army is gay as hell. We couldn't drink, no smoking, the male/ female buddy teams, no overnight passes, lights out at 9 even on weekends, no fast food until gold phase, no food in our dorms even though the air force gets mini fridges. I don't smoke and rarely drink so it wasn't too horrible there, but it was like a prison environment.
User avatar #30 to #29 - imonagoat (10/27/2013) [-]
Buddy, you should go to OSUT for the infantry, not as long but you wanna talk about a prison environment. Just imagine basic training and all the yelling and smoking and rules except instead of 10 weeks its 18 weeks. ( I'm an 11c so my osut is a little longer than the bravos)

User avatar #31 to #30 - dagold ONLINE (10/27/2013) [-]
I don't doubt the infantry have it harder than the medics, but it was nowhere near as fun as your medic had. They cracked down on things like crazy recently.
