Work in daycare
Make sandwiches for kids
Run low on bread
Make a couple half sandwiches with folded cheese and ham
All kids habitually disassemble sandwiches
Half sandwich kids initially upset, but then realize they got "double"
Proceed to brag about how their half sandwiches have more in them
All kids want half sandwiches

Did this to my aunts kid. Ones 5 and the other 3. They wanted hot dogs so I made them. I was in AP Psych at the time and had just learned this. Gave the 5 year old a full hot dog and gave the 3 year old a hot dog cut into 8ths. MFW he literally cried for 5 minutes because I wouldn't give him 8 hot dogs.

Took a class on brain development, primarily in childhood. Teacher was an idiot, class was a joke, but the content was still pretty interesting. For the same reason you could also take a large glass, fill it half way, then pour it into a smaller glass (which would then be filled more than half way), and the kid would tell you the second glass has more water.

Children that age do not understand the law of conservation (if the appearance of an object changes but nothing is added or subtracted, the object retains its basic properties). If you have water in a short, wide glass and pour it into a tall, thin glass, a child would say there's more water in the tall glass because to them it looks like more, even though no water was added.

Actually this study was proven wrong, other researches decided to change the wording of the question and do certain things like ask the children open questions. They proved that the children felt pressured into answering that it was now fair because the adults gave them leading questions, and the children almost felt like they had made it fair because the big responsible adult had done SOMETHING to the biscuits. When repeated, with the questions changed, and two different groups of children experiencing both situation separately, the results show the complete opposite of what this gif. shows. :3

I was hoping it'd go like this:
"Did I share these fairly?"
"Yes."
"Oh, how so?"
"Cuz you're a fat bitch."

I still have my psychology textbook from my Freshmen year and plan on keeping it until I have children. I will then proceed to use every technique to train the most disciplined, mentally ahead, etc child. Not to mention I will also use the information gathered to completely **** with he or she until the day they move out.

conservation doesn't really develop in children until the age of about 7

Ive actually seen this full video in my psychology class. It has to do with the development that children go through mentally. This experiment is repeated several times, with several children of varying gender/race/etc and with varying objects (such as chocolate and candies).
