Okay, try this:
I started to try and learn how to art by drawing things I liked- mostly cartoonish characters, like from Invader Zim. Once I could draw those characters accurately, I moved onto anime characters, as I am an anime fan. Then, I started to make up cross overs or original characters. Use pencil. You can't shade or erase with a pen.
Its probably a really sucky system, and is not advised, but thats all I can say. If you want to do more realistic drawings, try to study how a person ACTUALLY looks. Like from a picture or something.
Remember, Im not a professional or anything, but this worked for me...
