I'm the Graffiti guy from yesterday and here is another one I made, I got a -2 Thumb response yesterday so let's see how this goes.

I'm going to give you feedback instead of shit, just so that's clear.

First off:
You need a message. Doesn't have to piss people off, but it has to be clear, and has to force a reaction on the viewer. You can often add to that by choosing the place and format of your piece. It can be a wake-up call, a hard statement, something philosophical, or just plain beautiful. Basically; you have to make yourself heard.

It's also a good thing to add an illustration that's not the letters themselves. Try it out.

Second:
You have a nice line, but you need to refine it. Use color if you can, and learn from other people who have made something significant. 99% of what you draw or sketch will be bad or utter crap, but you learn from each and every one of them. Keep going if you want to make something good.

Lastly:
There are some unwritten rules of graffiti and street art. Never place a permanent piece on a building or object of significance or public value, it's only going to mess up your work and provoke people to see it as vandalism. If you place something in these places, use stickers or other removable techniques.

Take a look around your city and scout for what other people have made that you genuinely feel are awesome works, and try to figure out why they have that impact on you.

Good luck with your work! Have a thumb for not giving up trying.

If you need reference images for any ideas or practice, just send me a pm.

Thanks a lot, I guess I deserved the thumbs down. I actually have ideas but since I just started out I don't know how to do it right and the reason I'm only sketching is because I'm still a student and I have classes for the whole day. I practice a lot and although some of the other comments discourage me I won't give up. I like how you actually gave me feedback on the lettering and the design rather than telling me to fix my message the whole times. Thanks a lot.

No problem at all!

I know how it feels. I do a lot of different art, but haven't really gotten properly good at a specific, personal style yet. I admire your courage to go to funnyjunk of all sites to get feedback, since you are bound to get a lot of crap comments rather than encouragement when you try out the art form you do.

As I already said, just contact me if you want help in any way. :)

It's because graffiti is 99% crap. The few people who everyone loves actually had a damn good message and were putting their necks on the line to convey that message. Everyone else who write their names, skulls, or bubbly letter nonsense are just making crap.

If you do something really ballsy with a message that will actually piss some people off. Like a message that wouldn't be allowed in a large publication... where the only means of displaying it is some sort of vandalism? Maybe combine that message with some sort of illustration instead of cute boxed out letters? Until then it's shit and you should try something that hasn't been run into the ground.

Free? is fucking childish. Graffiti is also where your message is place. Is you desk in your room free? Slap it on a something that makes sense.

As great as Exit Through The Gift Shop was, it created far to many dumb ass kids who missed the big fucking message at the end.

Thanks a lot for the feedback, I guess I am pretty childish considering the fact that I'm only in High School. I'll try to keep it in mind as much as I can and work on the things that I'm missing out on.
