This is pretty much my drawing style for "cartoon" characters, any tips on improving?

How about poses that are not boring?

Well it was supposed to be a semi-realistic drawing and I am very boring.

"Semi-realistic" does not require boring poses.

Yes it does. I'm not going to draw myself in some flamboyant superhero pose.

No it doesn't.
You're not gonna draw yourself in some flamboyant superhero pose, neither are you gonna draw yourself looking like an emotionless brainwashed manikin with a broom showed in your shirt. How often do you see people standing like that IRL?

Google "contrapposto", it might help...

I stand like that all the time. Again, I am very boring. I am also monotone so I seem more like a robot.

surely you sometimes do something?!

as for tips:
thinner lines, maybe?
if its just something with the main focus on the jokes/writing and you just want to quickly get trough the drawing process then I guess its fine

it does look like a very generic "corner of a math notebook" -doodle.
I'd probably aim for something much more stylized, when making a cartoon/web comic -character

I don't plan on making anything out of it, I just draw random pictures for fun.
Yeah I usually do a doodle like that and improve it later.

There is a big difference in my doodling and my drawing.

Thank you for the tips though, but negative feedback about the stance seems unwarranted. My question referred to my style not stance, while I understand the help the negative thumbs were harsh since that implies that people feel as though my personal opinion of my doodles are wrong.

Thinner lines

Well that's just a doodle of course.
Any other tips?
