OoJesusoO (02/23/2013) [-] Alright guys I just finished watching Neon Genesis Evagelion. In my opinion, not as bad as I thought it would but I usually try to get rid of any expectations of greatness when I watch an "anime classic" to avoid biased judgement. The only problems I had with it was that some scenes dragged WAAAAAAAAAAAAY too long, the plot was kinda confusing, and the philosophy they try to interpret seems kinda preachy and even false. However, the mystery on my mind is why does everyone loathe Shinji so much? Yes I know, he's whiny and takes no action to aim towards his goals but he wasn't a terrible person IMO. He didn't run away if someone was in danger(unless I forgot something if so please bring it up) and that In my opinion is what truly makes a person hateable, to let someone suffer while the character benefits. He did run away though from NERV reason being some fear but I thought it was more of the fact that he didn't want to be used as a tool by his father. Can anyone shed some light?

nightt (02/23/2013) [-] I think everyone watched Evangelion and waited for that moment when Shinji maned the fuck up and kick the shit out of some angels or people, but it never really came. He moped his way through the series, right to the end, where he still did nothing. I like him, but it's undeniable he's a pansy. Whether he's got the past to justify being a pansy or not, he's still a pansy either way.

He was just so... pathetic I guess... while I can accept this as his character I still dislike him for it. He could have overcome his fear, he could have done a lot of things, but he just sat around moping all the time begging for help from others.

1. his friends in nerv were all basically using him and didn't care(except misato), asuka was a total bitch, Rei was basically shell and just because she wasn't mean doesn't mean she was nice either.

Keoul (02/23/2013) [-] True, but he had school friends as well, also my memory is being messed with since I've seen both the anime series and Rebuild so I'm probably getting a bit mixed up in my head, they were certainly a closer group of friends in Rebuild.
Hmmm you're right I forgot about that XD still the pain is reduced but I guess that's a legit reason to not want to pilot an EVA.

sirchris (02/23/2013) [-] What the fuck is up with Kuroko no Basuke? I mean, the first thing that comes to mind is that it's a sports anime and that it would be shit because of that. To make matters worse it's a fucking basketball anime. All these fuckers do is run back and forth on some wood flooring and rub their sweaty balls all over each others legs while throwing a bigger ball back and forth. Does that sound fun? No, if I wanted to watch men get all touchy-feely I would go watch Boku no Pico. WHICH, by the way, has a way better story than KnK. Oh, and did I mention that it's a HIGH SCHOOL basketball team? Yep it's an anime that, once again, follows a high school protagonist. It could have been college or a pro league player to make things a little more exciting, but no, it's a high school anime. How fucking original.
