ITT: Favourite anime and why
Mine is Higurashi no Naku Koro ni...
I think it's great because it starts off really cute and funny like this (excluding the small scene at the very start of Keiichi beating Mion and Rena to death with a bat not much of a spoiler because it happens the very second you watch it)
And then it becomes this fucked up little world of psychotic murderous mayhem...
It's just awesome, especially when I wasn't expecting it. I started watching it because I watched one of the opening credits from the Rei or Kira OVAs and it was all cute and happy and stuff, and then it turned out the way it did and I was like "what the fuck..... this is awesome..."

Sora No Woto
I find that all the characters are interesting in the reason of why they are in the fort. Even if they are far the frontline you can easily see the effect of the war. Its the interesting constrast of the innocence of the girls and the war going in the background that made me love the anime. At the end of the serie the arc is, in a way, terrifiying since they are going the war and that is the last thing i wanted to see.
Noel FTW

For me, my favorite anime series has to be a tie between Darker Than Black and Evangelion. Darker Than Black is the more recent anime that I am simply enamored in because of the cool characters, awesome power system (Contractor Powers/Obseiance), and a great soundtrack. Plus my waifu Yin.
That said, NG: Evangelion, was the first anime I actually "watched" that wasn't airing on TV. When I was young I loved the series, because of the awesome mecha fights, and comedic relief parts in between the cool fights. When I went though it again about 10 years later, I loved it again for the awesome Mech VS Monster fights, but also for the psychological elements, the amazing characters, and plot. (Plus the fanservice) If it weren't for what felt like in my opinion lulls in the storyline as a result of the school life shit, and the ending which still leaves me very confused and a little Buttfrustrated, NG: Evangelion would be my favorite anime hands down.

Welcome to the NHK. Relatable, deep look into life, amazing OST, all that.
Clannad.
Life changing. Makes you want to be a better person. All that good stuff.
