Because we've only seen the brand new Trainees and the Garrison. Like it was hinted at earlier, all the best soldiers go to the Inner Walls or outside in the Scouting Legion. We've got the newbies in the Trainees and worst soldiers are in the Garrison. The only reason they can fight back is thanks to their new Titan friend and Mikasa, they say in the manga she's equal to about 100 men. Either way, they were all just about out of gas and the supply group is trapped. There's too many titans and everyone's dying.

Later on, the Scouting Legion uses a large formation for Titan spotting and evasion. Just right now, everyone is broken up, horrified and disorganised. They're either dead, trapped or running away.

Ah, so they do eventually use spotters. I just don't get how that would not be part of the normal squad mechanics. They're meant to be a unit. At this point all I see them as are a bunch of kids in a match of COD. No organization. Human cannon fodder that they're not even loading into good cannons.

That's pretty much the point. The last 100 years have left humans to grow complacent. Everyone in the city Garrisons are crappy, even the guy giving the orders was using the regulations to escape to the inner walls. The Scouting Legion has the real soldiers, but they have such a high death rate barely anyone joins and only the very best survive.

It just seems to me that those in charge of the city's military should have done some major reform as soon as the Colossal Kyojin appeared. Hell, their confusion as to how he got there should have forced them to up their surveillance power intensely. Despite the complacency, there should have been some major changes post-First attack. Or, well, I think there should have been.

Well, as it gets further in more things will become apparent. I think for now it's just emphasising just how outmatched humans are. Even in the manga, there's still a lot about what's been going on that has yet to be revealed.

You don't have to worry about spoiling the manga for me. That happened over 5 months ago and I have the first few chapters downloaded and I'll browse through them on some day I'm bored.

Well, I hate when things are spoiled for me, so I try to avoid doing that for anyone else. It's best I say as little as possible, heh. It's a good read though, like I think yeorgh mentioned, the art in the anime doesn't fit the feel as well as the manga does.

Eh, the lack of gore is annoying a bit, but other than that I don't have gripes about the art insofar.

Yeah, even in this episode, when the titan got his head smashed off they didn't show it as well as the manga did. All they showed was it hitting a window, while the manga had this.

That seems like a great idea. I"m betting the author didn't even think about it. I never read the manga though so I really don't know.
How I would explain it though would be that since the Titans had never breached the walls before, they never bothered to build spotting towers inside of the walls. Then after a century, many prior tactics were forgotten. So even though they had 5 years in between the attack on maria and rose, they focused more improving walls and cannons then working on tactics.
Also, spotting towers are too easy of a target for titans to destroy. The biggest strength humans have is their agility and if they're busy trying to defend these perches, their area of operation cuts down and they become more vulnerable. Of course they could just move multiple perches around the city and just leap frog around.

Ye, that's what my idea of a perch would be. Just a ton of small ones that would allow someone to get a wide view of the surrounding area, then they could easy jump along to another. Probably something really small, just one person would fit on it. It would also be the best way to attack the kyojin, considering they're looking down for people, not up for attacks. No footsteps when you're dropping in.

I think they were just lazy fuckers and they don't expect to get their walls broken, not were even prepared for anything. happened on real life wars too. but well, since mikasa can kill them all with help from eren-giant its k.

Well, Hiroe, the mangaka, just came off of hiatus, and the Roberta's Blood Trail OVAs caught the anime up to the manga almost entirely aside from five chapters, so we won't see another season for probably four years. That's of course assuming that lazy-ass Hiroe churns out a chapter every month like he's supposed to.

Of course, after we get more manga material that is.

I know princess tutu is on my backlog. I made a word doc so i can add them to my mal later. Everyone has unique taste, if you don't listen to other people you might not find that next gem. Yours is so different from mine, so why not.

I like to believe, and it usually isn't true, that every fanbase has their assholes and their chill dudes. I try to be chill enough so people think their is hope for the fanbases. I'm still watching naruto, for some fucking reason, and really enjoyed the Evangelion series as a whole. I like things that make me think is all.

Of course they do, it's just that in major fan bases it becomes a norm to deepshit love the targeted fan-object, and if someone says something against it, hate them. While they consciously do it, or if it is peer pressure, I don't care.

Aoi Bungaku

With all my knowledge of not having seen it, I deem it shit. Mine aren't really good either.

It's simply animated shorts of different older Jap books. It's cut up into six parts, all parts being an anime of one of these books.

The art style in the two last books gets my blood rushing everytime.

Sometimes all it takes is bright flashing lights or a good art pallet to get someone going sometimes. It's understandable if you put a heavy emphasis on art.

Aoi Bungaku's later chapters being one.
Mononoke being another one.
Rainbow Nisha's art style, while not obscure, is done perfectly well.

I loved it. Yes, it's overrated, but it's one of those overrated shows that are still actually good, unlike many others. It's not the perfect anime, but it's definitely up there in terms of greatness.

There are none. Anime just cannot do horror very well, which is odd because the Japanese normally can. The closest you will ever find is Mononoke, and I can't say if that's what you're looking for.
