How should I talk to my ex/girlfriend (we're something inbetween, long distance) when she gets triggered to cut, how should I support her and make her realize she doesn't really want it and not guilt trip her, some counter-triggers?

when i found out one of my bfs was cutting himself (we were about 14) i said nothing but grabbed his arm and slapped him just enough that it hurt on the every new cut i found, ignored every complaint and and cry for attention until he realised i would love him without the cuts.
Obv being long distance this wont work for you but you need to make her realise its not going to get her anymore attention than she already gets because thats what cutting is, a cry for a attention.
Unless she goes to great lengths to hide the cuts then she has a psychological addiction to what she perceives as a release of all the tension she has no other way to express and she needs professional help.
