Try the pretties/uglies/specials/extras (although extras is kindof a subplot) series if you're into futuristic adventuristic sci-fi. Or Host (by Stephanie Meyer, don't judge the book by it's author) for the same feel.

Also the Max Ride series by James Patterson. Avian mutant bird kids with powers. Super awesome and well written.
