Okay well, you know how it's pretty basic knowledge that Jesus was a carpenter? I was thinking, what if He wasn't, and the only reason people think He was is because that's how they translated the word for what He actually was? Because the word in question was "tecton", and that more literally translates to "artisan" which can mean a number of various trades. In John 2:19, Jesus said: "Destroy this temple, and I will rebuild it again in three days." He was referring to Himself, and how he was destined to be killed and resurrect in three days. So if He said He was going to metaphorically rebuild a temple, then perhaps people started calling Him a metaphorical "artisan". And then that got mistranslated to carpenter, presumably because His dad was one.
